With the release of Trey Songz‘s ‘Chapter V’ album drawing nearer, the R&B pin-up is revving up the promotional machine in support of the LP (which is due August 21st).
Trigga’s latest stop? Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.
Peep his performance of ‘Heart Attack’ after the jump…
Like his career, the performance was not “offensive”, yet left us wondering what the point of it was. Call us harsh, but five albums in, there’s little material or performance-wise that shows much growth. I mean, if one forgot today’s date, there’s nothing that says this couldn’t be have been lifted from the ‘Ready’ era. Three years ago.

Let’s be real for a second. Trey is not a great singer, his ‘live’ performances consist of him mumbling along to an overpowering backing track which swallows his shit vocals. Trey Songz = Bad vocals + ripping off tshirts. However, having said that, it was probably the best he’s ever sounded.. He sure as hell is no Ne-Yo though!

He ought to faint up there in that hot ass jacket and timberland boots. Its bout a hundred degrees outside and he is dressed for the fall or winter.

That wasn´t bad for his standards. At least he has energy. Not every model in music business has it

He did not sound horrlibe, you guys need to stop hating. He can sing and I won’t take that from him but his music has gotten really boring, generic, and lackluster.
Stop singing about sex and sing about something with meaning.

There’s nothing wrong with sticking with R&B but damn, can you switch up the content!! How many times can you say the same thing (i.e. sex) over a different beat. That’s where he needs “growth.” #Tired&Boring

At the Reggae Summmer Fest his ratings was poor also as shabba Ranks out performed him.
Trey Songz, who performed on International Night 1, was a bit disappointed. Perhaps there were too much hype surrounding his first performance in Jamaica, or maybe he couldn’t top that giant performance from dancehall legend Shabba Ranks.
Several females clamor to the VIP section just to see the R&B star up close. Apart from delivering several of his well known singles and showing off his toned abs, Songz performance was a bit below expectation.

Lol did somebody really just say that Ne-Yo sings better than Trey Songz?? Um ., yea Ok whatever. Ne-Yo is a great songwriter and is probably more talented than Trey overall, but when we’re talking about just vocals Trey takes that one. Ne-Yo’s voice can get terribly annoying.
