Joining Frank Ocean and Brandy at the forefront of R&B’s rival comes Miguel, the one time underdog taking the world of music by force and by storm.
Watching his second album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream‘ score multiple Grammy nods earlier this week, the last year has seen the star stand as one of his genre’s fastest selling contributors, with the LP edging nearer to Gold status week on week.
Now, in celebration of his ‘Grammy recognition’, we shine a light on one of our favorite cuts from the record- a scorching piece named ‘Use Me‘.
Got an ear to spare? Listen below…

Miguel deserves all the success and critical acclaim he has been receiving this year without a doubt. I remember last year he was so upset that he got shut out from the Grammy nominations but I think this year makes up for it. I mean, I was not expecting him to get nominated for Song of the Year for “Adorn.” That’s HUGE. Even though he has some major competition in that category, I think he deserves it. He crafted “Kaliedoscope Dream” all on his own and was able to bring his vision of R&B music to life and he succeeded in many ways. He’s a great artist and “Use Me” is one of my favorites from the album.

has no one listened to Prince? I mean, I love Miguel but it really is just Prince 2012, isn’t it.

As a die hard Prince fan I would have to say no. I just don’t see it. He’s crafting something very different in my eyes.

Agreed- fully. The first time I heard “Adorn” I thought of Prince but couldn’t really put my finger on why. I looked up some more of Miguel’s music to see if any of his other stuff had the same vibe, since I’m a big fan of Prince. When I found this song I had another ‘whoa.. Prince..’ moment. There’s an unmistakable Prince-ness to a lot of Miguel’s stuff, and I love that.
