‘Shades of Cool’ chanteuse Lana Del Rey wooed and wowed the French town of Carcassonne last week, doing so with a show launched to promote her new LP ‘Ultraviolence.’

There, as the LP outperforms releases launched by many a ‘Hot 100′ winner, the singer delivered the first live performance of the song ‘F’d My Way to the Top’!

Was she any good?

She’s just not that good live. Plain and simple. I don’t mind her studio work with all of the effects, multi layering, and vintage throwback I get on some of the songs… I mean West Coast & Video Games are two of my favorite songs ever, but I can’t at her live. She needs the reverb and etc that the studio gives her. She’s also very painfully awkward, but it fits to her music and image. No shade though. I bought UV and love it.

Does she always perform like this, it’s like she can’t be bothered to be there…

All i want to know is wtf is going on with her and James Franco?, on topic: People are so uset to booty shake performers that they don’t understand that her performances are an act, it fits the music, the melodrama, sadness and paranoid

Why is she “promoting” in small French towns?!

She’s an Indie artist plus this woman clearly doesn’t care about commercial success I guess. She didn’t promote the album she just released it & kept it moving

It´s f****** obvious she is bad at live performances but her artistry and studio work is great. Why can´t you guys accept it? She herself clearly stated it when she first debuted. That she is a studio artist and that people who were going to see her live were just going to feel like they were listening to the album and nothing else. I remember that particular interview from more than 2 years ago. Live performances is not what you have to enjoy from Lana. It´s beautiful to have so many different types of artists.

I can’t disagree: Lana’s forte is not the live performance. JOHNVIDAL rightly reminds us that Lana made this point clear some time ago. (I, for one, am delighted to see that she’s relaxing on stage, and in this clip, she even swayed a little!) But it’s absurd to assess her singing in this video. Consider: It was recorded on a hand-held, cellphone microphone, weighted to one side of the stage; and if that weren’t enough, the microphone is surrounded by other young female voices singing along. To criticize, the critic must be fair to the performer.
