TLC Final Album Fundraiser Hits $150,000 Target In Just 3 Days

TLC have done it.

The legendary R&B group have once again defied the odds – this time with the fundraising campaign for their final studio album.

Details below…

Launched just three days ago, the Kickstarter project set out to raise $150,000 which would go towards the recording of the LP.

With incentives including trips to the movies with T-Boz and fitness classes with Chilli, fans (and celebrities) flocked to the page and showered support with their donations. So much so that in one tenth of the thirty days allocated, the figure has been reached…and then some. As at writing, the total raised is:

As many will recall, we’ve been somewhat skeptical about the semantics of the campaign (and, in some ways, still are). However, it’s clear that the people have spoken.

Involving fans in the “process” of the project comes with a number of “pros”, yet we just hope there are firm plans in place to ensure the “cons” don’t come to fruition. Because whether $10 or $10,000, when folk have invested their money, expectation is for the investment to deliver. Fingers crossed more continues to roll-in to assist with this.

Wow, bitter sweet for me. I’m happy for them but at the same time, this is really an all time low to get funding from a fan. I mean I believe in support but Damn? Smh. Well like the article says, I hope they make this album well worth it! Especially for the donors. Good luck TLC.

    • Kev Kev January 22, 2015

You fund them anyway by purchasing their previous albums, singles and other merchandise! Why would this be any different especially when they are asking for so little and giving alot back!

    • Mark111 January 22, 2015

And, TLC always been about the FANS. It’s not a gimmick, we hold them down even through all their ups and downs. Better to be from the fans than greedy labels that only care about money and chart success. This give them full control and I know they’ll make the best music as possible.

Brandy should do the same! At least to fund her videos

  8. Flower power January 22, 2015

But no ones gonna buy it lol

    • Jojob January 22, 2015

but each person who contributed $10.00 or more got a copy of the album…..so it looks like quite a few people actually DID buy it.

  9. Fancy BISH January 22, 2015

They tried that and they did that! Flawless victory 😉 #TLC

Is the one and only SMELLY FLOPLAND going to be on the album???? I sure as hell hope it’s not RITA WHORA!!!!

Whora, you should really consider tightening up those floppy beef curtains and wiping up the copious amounts of discharge dripping from your rotten p****.

Please stay in the UK, Gonorrhita, along with your s******* and weeping genital warts.

  14. SMH January 22, 2015

And this is why TLC is the biggest girl group of all time. They set the trends and always surpass them. Legends forever.

  16. Leon January 22, 2015

    Proud fan!

  17. Lake Erie January 22, 2015

Yea true when “people” buy artists album it’s being funded anyways I guess you could say. But I don’t know. This route is just a little tacky to me. But I am interested to see how this whole project comes into fruition. 🙂 (hence) quality of videos, some type of world tour with them solo or maybe with other r&b groups, and just that good ole go hard promo promo PROMO. No half stepping with this “final” album. They wanna throwback? Then they need to promote like there isn’t any social media to back them. And we all know what that means. #Work! 😉

    • Jojob January 22, 2015

yasss!! promotional appearance tv and radio spots, performances. they need to give us some good rnb cuts on this album too! give the fans what they want! go out with a f****** B A N G

      • Lake Erie January 22, 2015

Hell yea Jojob! I mean I am light weigh pumped to see what’s gone go down, no lies. Lol. A Bang 4/sho!

  18. TheElusiveLamb January 22, 2015

    I can’t wait to hear

  19. G4L January 22, 2015

    I hope this doesn’t become a trend.
Even if any of my favourite artists wanted me to pay beforehand I would be disappointed at the greed and lack of artistic merit.

  20. Casual-T January 22, 2015

This strikes me as really odd. The ladies are about to go on tour this summer with Nelly and New Kids. They should make way more than $150k. Or, is the plan to get this album done in advance of the tour so it can be promoted during the tour?

  21. Blacksista January 22, 2015

People don’t buy music so this is a little insurance. SMART!

  22. Al January 22, 2015

I loved the 3D album can’t believe its been 13 years since it came out tho! I how it will be as good as that. Well done am sure the amount will double!
