Pink: “Mary J. Blige Turned Me Down”

Published: Tuesday 17th Oct 2017 by David

Ever wondered why Pink and Mary J. Blige are yet to collaborate?

Well, today brings with it the answer to your question.

Details below…

In an interview with the ‘Morning Mashup’, Pink revealed that she hoped to work with Mary but was startled to learn that Mary wasn’t interested.

I went in her trailer a long time ago, I think it was when I hosted the Lady of Soul Train, or Soul Train Awards. I walked into her trailer and I was like, ‘Hi! Would you ever work with me?’ She just took one look at me and she goes, ‘No.’ I go, ‘Okay. I love you, Mary. I’ll see you again.’”

Mary is yet t0 respond.

Your thoughts?

    Mary… your loss. Stupid move.

    • DanYiel Iman October 17, 2017

How so? Mary J Blige ain’t hurting even after her divorce..

    • DS October 17, 2017

I don’t think so. This happened back in 2000 when Pink was a still a LaFace Records experiment and Mary was working with the likes of Elton John and Aretha Franklin. Pink was loud, over the top, and had that ridiculous fake “Black accent,” which to some probably came off as a mockery or gimmick (go search her interviews from 2000). If Mary didn’t know her, what makes anyone think she’d be ok with saying “Yes” to a collaboration or ok with a complete stranger coming into her trailer?

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

It is Mary’s gain. Pink was trying to use Mary’s celebrity for her benefit and Mary blocked her.

    • Fancy BISH October 18, 2017

That I Can Love You ❤️ video is giving me eternal LIFE lol..what a bop! ?

  2. Jeans October 17, 2017

That sounds just like Mary. ?????

  3. Jeans October 17, 2017

That was probably at a time when Pink wasn’t a superstar yet. Mary was just looking at Pink as a rising star, not good enough for a working partner. Also Mary probably thought of their music as two far apart for anything to work. I’m sure she regrets it now. If she remembers she said it in the first place.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

Why would Mary regret that? Mary is a huge star in her own right.

      • Jeans October 17, 2017

Duh. I mean she probably would love to work with Pink and try something different.

      • Jasmine October 17, 2017

I doubt that. Mary is not thinking about old man-faced Pink.

      • Jasmine October 17, 2017

The only one that would benefit from that is Pink. Saying a colab is “trying something different” for Mary means you nothing about Mary’s catalogue and the “different” artists she has already worked with like Stevie Wonder, U2, Elton John, George Michael, Aretha, Whitney, Chaka Kahn, Toni Braxton, KD Lang, Rod Stewart, john Bon Jovi, Seal, Steve Winwood, and countless other artists.

  4. DanYiel Iman October 17, 2017

Actually do there voices mesh well together??

  5. China October 17, 2017

I met Mary backstage at an event years ago and she seemed crazy to me, i’m sorry if your a stan of hers but She was pure looney. Great talent and great emotional voice like a young Gladys without the range but straight looney

  6. S****** Blonde October 17, 2017

    Pink never lies.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

      Shut up racist f a g g o t.

  7. Lake Erie October 17, 2017

    Hell nah lol

    • Fancy BISH October 17, 2017

I thought of Sofia from The Color Purple when I read your comment lol

  8. AdrianL October 17, 2017

Mary was just being real. Why should the two of them work together? They don’t at all match. Their styles would totally clash. The song would be a mess.

  9. mr.m October 17, 2017

And that bish had the nerve to say sh!t about xtina’s behavior?
Am glad p!nk said that and exposed her ass .. mokey j blige

    • Case October 17, 2017

“M***** J blige”, really? Spoken like an ignorant, insecure, inbred, halfwit.

      • Jamie October 17, 2017

        Exactly!!!!

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

@mr.m Shut up racist f a g g o t. Go back to kissing that man-faced looking Pink’s pink a s s and never come for Queen Mary again! Bow down and humble yourself.

    • Caleb October 17, 2017

Shut up p**. Everything Mary said about Britney Spears and Christina was true. Britney “may not sing or be as talented” as Ctina but she went further because of how she treated people.

  10. BANGBANG123 October 17, 2017

I bet she’ll change her mind now… Mary need a hit worse than a crackhead! Pink is dope! She should reconsider!

    • #JACKIE October 17, 2017

Mary is hip hop soul/R&B royalty with 25 legendary years under her belt. She ain’t worried about Pinks generic d*** ass.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

Mary does not need to work with Pink. I doubt their voices would mesh and that is a bad idea in the first place.

  11. ya October 17, 2017

yall sitting here talking ish calling her m***** and other disrespectful things are the real m***** don’t project yourself onto mary. This might have been a time when Mary was going through stuff and I can only imagine how annoying ass pink probably came off and mary wouldn’t have known her well. The question I have is has she reached out to mary recently she talkin bout some 90 early 2000’s stuff and that’s two diff Mary’s so get the facts before yall jump on sista’s back.

    • Bravo!! October 17, 2017

Thank you! Mary haven’t performed on soul train in years. So it had to be way back.

  12. Arealbidge October 17, 2017

Old crack head probably was hi as fuq. Pink it’s ok don’t worry about that flop bixtch.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

Respect Queen Mary gutter troll b|tch! You don’t hear Mary fans talking or even thinking about that old hard-man-faced looking Pink who claims to be in her late 30s but looks like she is 45-50. Mary does not have to work with your fav if she does not want to. Their voices don’t mesh.

  13. SMH October 17, 2017

Lol Mary don’t know her. Still doesn’t.

  14. SMH October 17, 2017

But why is Pink bringing up sh*t from almost 20 years ago? There must be more to this story that goes beyond just a simple “Hi Mary will you work with me?” Pink ain’t no damn innocent victim. And trust & believe Mary will respond with the truth soon. Pnk don’t want it from Mary so she better chill.

    • Case October 17, 2017

      Exactly!

  16. #TeamTinashe Stan (DaniLeigh “Summer With Friends” Is Out ???) October 17, 2017

    I love Mary but P!nk wouldn’t lie.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

Pink lied about a lot of things. Just google it. She also is very fake. What happened to her fake black accent she used to talk with? Why does she claim to be 38 but looks 45-50?

  17. Anne October 17, 2017

I honestly can’t imagine them on a duet. Their styles are way to different and on opposite ends of the spectrum. I doubt either one of them have the versatility and/or desire to alter their style into something that would bring them closer to being cohesive.

    • Anne October 17, 2017

At least Mary didn’t front, she’s been in the business long enough to know which collaborations make sense and which ones would not.

  18. The Wig Snatcher October 17, 2017

That is weird. But, oh well. Pink is STILL here and STILL slaying.

  19. Stephy October 17, 2017

    Good for Mary.

  20. 2Bad2Bme October 17, 2017

    Mary shady ???

  21. IKiddIkiddNot October 17, 2017

MARY was probably in her feelings this is doing the time Pink was dating Treach; and Treach was Mary’s old boo thang

  22. PrinceofTheSouth October 17, 2017

I am sure Mary regrets that decision today.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

  23. TheTruth October 17, 2017

Well I’d like to think some artists give a chance to up and coming singers before they become huge. Instead of jumping on the wagon without taking a risk. That was my point.
Mary started somewhere at some point. And I’m sure she would have appreciated to collabo with an established artist or at least someone being nice to her and giving her advices versus acting bitchy.
Pink didn’t say anything wrong about Mary btw, she was being goofy as most of the time.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

      • JOHNVIDAL October 17, 2017

Mary would probably collab with her now. But it is normal tahts he didn´t want to 15 years ago. Pink wa snobody and they don´t really suit. Nothing wrong with Mary saying no. It made no sense.

      • TheTruth October 17, 2017

Even a dump would turn down your classless ass. Try again.

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

@TheTruth Classless? You are the gutter troll b|tch whining about how Mary said NO to working with your man-faced fav. The only classless one is YOU ugly troll. Mary kept it classy and her fans keep it classy by not even thinking about ugly fake a** Pink. Pink is low-class for even bringing up this old dirt with the intention to make Mary look bad for rejecting her ugly a z z. BTW I don’t go to “dumps”…that is where ugly trolls like you live and thrive. I hope you stay in the dump where you belong gutter troll b|tch.

  24. JOHNVIDAL October 17, 2017

I don´t know. There´s something about Pink I don´t feel that authentic? Or even if she is, why say this now? It makes Mary look bad and after 15 years or more it is totally uncalled for. Even if she didn´t say it with any purpose at all. You can sty classy and keep some things. Of course she has no problem with collaborating with “fantastic” people like Eminem on top of that. And more importantly, her music is so bland. Safe comercial pop-rock. Nothing else.

  25. Truth Dot Com October 17, 2017

    Honestly…..
I don’t think Pink would work with Mary J now even if Mary wanted to do something.

NOW……Pink and Fantasia should mos def do something together.

Or Jessie J and Fantasia……oh or better yet Fantasia, Jessie J and Pink! OMG!

    • Jasmine October 17, 2017

Pink does not have that option. Mary said NO. No means No and not “ill think about it” or “maybe later.”

  26. Fact Checker October 17, 2017

    ??? Mary SAVAGE AF!!

  27. Caleb October 17, 2017

This was 17 years ago. Maybe Pink is remembering it differently now,

    • Fancy BISH October 18, 2017

      True

  28. J Christ October 20, 2017

Yes! Pink is making bank while Mary is still pandering to the ol’ “steal your music cause I don’t give a sht about black music” crowd. I love it when life works out fairly. C’mon Mary put out another one of those screeching like a banshee wild hyena albums for your “fans” to steal.
