It’s certainly been a long road for Candice Glover. Narrowed down from thousands of contestants, the powerhouse performer saw that journey end and her quest for divadom begin as she bested 22-year-old Texan songstress Kree Harrison to be named 2013′s ‘American Idol’ champ.
A fan favorite from the very start, Candice consistently wowed fans with her takes on tunes ‘Chasing Pavements’, ‘I Who Have Nothing’, and many more.
As we look forward to music from both of the blossoming vocalists, we at That Grape Juice extend our congratulations to Glover for being crowned this year’s winner!

As has become annual fare, some of music’s biggest stars have flocked to the ‘American Idol’ season finale to perform and/or cheer on their favorite talent hopeful.
With U.S. viewers glued to screens to see the outcome of the Candice Glover/Kree Harrison showdown, the former took to the stage to lend her melisma-laden vocals to the Natalie Cole hit ‘Inseparable’.
Much to crowd delight, the budding diva was joined by another Idol alum – Jennifer Hudson. The result was a powerhouse combo that is sure to go down as one of the show’s most memorable moments.

The net was set ablaze last week when reports that American Idol producers were planning a mid-season shake-up caught on like wildfire. Multiple sources claimed that the show’s creators were looking to oust Mariah Carey and replace her with rival and former judge on the show Jennifer Lopez. Carey’s only saving grace was said to be the legal action she threatened upon learning of the “coup”.
Keen to establish if the story is fact or fiction, Extra put the question to Lopez directly in Los Angeles last night. Find out what she said below…

American Idol, X Factor, The Voice, Sunday’s Best, Duets, Making the Band, Sing-Off, and Major & Minors are just a few of the recognizable titles of singing competitions that have graced (or disgraced) television over the past decade or so.
With its modern-day format pioneered by the FOX-aired ‘Idol’ to once record ratings (though ‘Live at the Apollo’ is the true grandfather of the genre), the last few years have seen a steadily declining interest in the singing competition themed reality show – despite reigniting interest in some of music’s top stars (see: Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, etc).
Until…NBC’s ‘The Voice’. But, even with its winning ratings, it has yet to produce a quality star in three seasons:

With the January 16th premiere of American Idol season 12 drawing ever-nearer, the show’s cast are beginning to do the media rounds.
Their latest stop? The cover of ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.
Battling beauties Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are all-smiles in the shots, which also feature fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban, as well as long-serving host Ryan Seacrest.
And while it’s clear that the stylists and photoshoppers have done a stellar job with the shoot, it’s the producers who deserve most kudos. For, they’ve willfully and skillfully conjured up ample buzz on the back of Carey and Minaj’s still-raging “feud” – ensuring that this season is a must-see.
We know we’ll be tuning in. Will you?

Another day, another Twitter battle.
Indeed, after the week started off with a bang with R&B bad boy Chris Brown’s fiery exchange with TV writer/comedienne Jenny Johnson, now his ‘Right By My Side’ co-star Nicki Minaj is stewing her own brand of Twit-battling with a rant against former ‘American Idol’ judge Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith).
The rock icon asserted during a recent interview with MTV that Minaj and fellow feuding judge Mariah Carey should, “Shut the f*ck up and focus [on the] talent”.
As what he said next has had much of the net abuzz for the past day or so, tell us:
Did Minaj respond fairly to Tyler’s comments?

Seems like Christina Aguilera isn’t the only one weighing in on a certain diva showdown!
Legendary rocker/former Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks sent shockwaves over the industry when she weighed in on the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey debacle from a Charlotte audition of ‘American Idol’.
While the two-some have torn fans on who was right, its clear that Nicks has taken Carey’s side in the showdown. Her statements were met with so much backlash, the 64-year-old singer was prompted to issue an apology.
