I think she did almost as much as Selena and certainly as much as Ritchie Valens (who died in a small plane crash while still in his teens and was portrayed in La Bamba).
Jay z had no role in her career or her success. Aaliyah and Dame Dash only DATED. No engagement, no living together, no synonymous nickname. He probably won’t have a role in the movie either. And to answer your question, Aaliyah has inspired MANY of your favs! From Ciara, to Destinys Child, Rihanna, Brandy and back. i forsee zendaya doing aaliyah justice, but i hope they Tann her darker like a red bone, not a yellow bone. And Aaliyah uncle is involved in the project, i dont think her mom and brother is though, her mother put out a cease order to prevent r. kelly from ever telling the truth, not like he would anyway, but i believe aaliyah lost her virginity to R.Kelly and was married and miscarried his child, and if that’s not covered in the Aaliyah movie, that it wont be a “movie” or deserves being “a movie”

Her makeup team will have a lot to do. It’s going to take a lot to make her look like Aaliyah. That goes for anyone. And to me, Aaliyah wasn’t light skin, she was brown. The girl just had some pretty damn good genes. I heard she had Native in her, but what African American doesn’t. I won’t make a big deal of a mix girl playing her. It reminds me when they got J.lo (a puerto rican) to play Salena (a Mexican), but Jenny did the job amazingly well.
Hopefully she does well and the movie turns out to be great.

I’m happy Aaliyah is getting her movie. They’ve been trying to do a movie about her since she died. Selena died young and that movie was awesome! If you have the right cast and script the sky is the limit! Aaliyah’s last album is pretty much what everyone is doing today…experimental r&b. she was a trailblazer and played a pivotal part in urban music. She wasn’t afraid to try something edgy.
So her family doesn’t want a Film cus of all the shady things she did?
