Despite her regular mentions of ‘disco sticks’ and all-round provocativeness, Pop eccentric Lady GaGa has revealed that she is currently practising celibacy. In the interview, which was conducted by the UK’s Daily Mail, the 24 year old also touched upon the pressure youngsters face to have sex.

On celibacy:
I’m single right now and I’ve chosen to be single because I don’t have the time to get to know anybody. So it’s OK not to have sex, it’s OK to get to know people. I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine.
On pressures growing up:
I remember the cool girls when I was growing up. Everyone started to have sex. But it’s not really cool any more to have sex all the time. It’s cooler to be strong and independent.
Definitely a positive message for some of her younger fans. Good stuff.

She’s actually a celebrity now and she’s constantly working with touring, doing her interviews and working on her new album and upcoming video. I think Lady Gaga is very talented as far as singing and playing the piano but her gimmicks turn me off, she goes too far. If she wants to send a good message to her fans she should not be making crap like that telephone video. Words are not as powerful as visual messages can be. I think it’s ok to send a positive message but how can her softspoken words during an interview compete with the clear and loud message of her songs and videos that encourage promiscuity. She is encouraging influential fans to lower themselves to a standard to which she now says she does not personally abide by. This is a irresponsible contradiction in my opinion.
