Pop vocalist Christina Aguilera took centre stage at the NBA Finals (Game 7) a few moments ago to perform the US national anthem (‘The Star Spangled Banner’). It marks the second time the 29 year old has performed the song this week (she, again, performed it at an NBA game this week).

We’re a little critical of Chrissy these days, aren’t we? More than half the artist in the industry now can’t pull off what she did. If this is an off night to some of you then how do you even justify the horrendous live vocals for most of these women in the last few post made.
This flop b*tch can’t sing at all!!! Her voice is annoying and she is always straining and doing those horrid growls, or grunts should I say. Just HORRIBLE.
Once again, just like her last rendition, she was perfect until the end. When she did “and the rockets red GLARE” she went off key. Then when she did her “and the land of the FREEE” she STILL couldn’t hit the FREE note, so she had to start doing that “AHHHH YAHHHH AAHHHH YAHHHH.”
Her voice is so amazing and if she would have taken care of it without all that damn grunting and screaming, she would still be able to hit those notes. Mariah didn’t take care of her voice and that’s why it’s like it is now at age 40. Christina has 11 more years to get it together. And of course Whitney didn’t take care of her voice with all that crack/cocaine induced into her system, that’s why she sounds like she does most of the time.
Celine Dion is the PERFECT example of how the maintain and take care of your vocals because she is still killin’ ANY and EVERYBODY!
Anyways, still good performance, better than most!

O.K…so…ignoring the blatant disregard for the ACTUAL issue at hand….let me just say: The first half of Christina’s performance (despite the minor rifts and runs here and there) was phenomenal. The amount of power she packs is relentless and breath taking. That being said, I wholly agree that she should have employed her whistle register for those high notes, as she was singing several keys higher than usual *kudos for that btw.* Her growl belt thingy’s were overused in this. They have their own affect, and using them on maybe one or two words MAXIMUM would have brought more power and showcase to the performance. Overusing them was, amongst other things a mistake. The deluxe version of Bionic should be the only version released. Half of the good stuff is in the deluxe version, including “Monday Morning,” “Bobblehead,” “Birds of Prey” and “Stronger than Ever.” These tracks along, with “Bionic” and “Elastic Love,” are the standout tracks. There are plenty of other good songs, and in fact, there are only a few misses, like the high-concept, low-execution “S** for Breakfast.”

She lipped for the Vegas shows she did, but two decades? Hell no! Of course she would lip during the Vegas shows because those were two or three shows a week. And I’m not saying she hasn’t lipped for any other event/show but unlike Mariah and Whitney, she has taken care of her voice. All three are around the same age (40+). The most recent televised performance she did was this year’s Grammy’s when she did a small tribute to MJ. She was NOT lip synching. Mariah and Whitney would not sound that good AT ALL!

Please refrain from the constant reference to Americans and how music is successful without America. Yes, an artist/album can be successful without America, but do you realize the most successful artists were all very successful in the U.S? The best-selling artists of ALL TIME sold the most in America, no? That’s including European artists! The performance was awful. There’s one thing if a singer can’t sing but its another thing when the singer can sing and they are trying way to hard. The performance was loud and annoying and it really wasn’t that necessary. Christina could have whispered the song and it would have sounded great. She should have kept it simple instead of trying to be grand.
