I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Gaga might well be white, but she’s not the kind of white that runs the media – just as some black folk look down on those who are darker, a lot of those in the ruling white class look down on Italian Americans (and all other Mediterraneans) – remember they didn’t even classify as white in southern courts until well into the 20th century – think of why so many musicians and actors changed their names to make them sound english. Then there’s the fact that Beyonce is well into the lighter black range which white people are more comfortable with – so they’re not really starting from that different a place as far as advantage is concerned – I think both are where they are because of talent and hard work.

Even Britney put in her fair share of work before she was taken seriously as a force to be reckon with(never the less) a Queen of pop! I’m not a Rihanna fan, but your right to assume that she may be an inspiration to younger girls coming up. If she continue putting in the work, perhaps she too will be respected for being in her own lane. I just think after a while you have to give credit where it’s due. Britney did have a huge following when she debuted, that’s obvious. I was actually speaking about how long it took for her to gain respect and not just been seen as an over exposed passing fad. Christina was seen as the one with the “real talent” when they were rivals in the beginning. Britney was expected to go down the same path as a Tiffany or Debbie Gibson(or the Spice girls). I wasn’t taking a s*** at her, I was actually given her credit for proving herself and continuing to develop a strong body of work.
