Ciara has just dropped a new track from her ‘Basic Instinct’ mixtape. ‘Lose My Mind’ is a Young Jeezy cover that didn’t quite make the final cut of her much delayed ‘Basic Instinct’ LP. Check it out below:
“…The ‘Basic Instinct’ drop you gon’ lose your mind”. Now if only those words could come true. This is track has an Urban appeal with the addition of her thick southern flavour. Her team made the right decision including this on a mixtape and not the album.

Mixtape? I didn’t know about a mixtape that was named ‘Basic Instinct’ as well. The song isn’t that bad. I didn’t really like the original by Jeezy, though. Jeezy is one of my fave rappers and usually comes with the heat for his first single, but I really wasn’t feeling this one. I ESPECIALLY hated Plies’ verse, UGH! But Jeezy’s album are ALWAYS flawless! But yeah, back to Ciara, she needs to do some promotion or release some singles because ‘Ride’ has already reached it’s peak and no one is checking for her besides her few stans.
This song is featured on the mixtape. For all those of you who didn’t know, she is putting out the mixtape before the actual album, so some of the songs you have heard will not even be on the actual CD itself. Her official website said this back in July.
The mixtape itself will include the remix to Waka Flocka’s ‘Hard in the Paint’, now titled ‘Hard in the A’, as well as the remix to Soulja Boy’s song ‘Pretty Boy Swag’, now titled ‘Pretty Boy (Girl) Swag’.
You can find the info as well as the tracks on the upcoming mixtape at onlyciara.com. That is the entire reason she pushed the release date for the actual “Basic Instinct ” album back, to make room for the mixtape to do it’s thing!

Basic Instinct is still the title of her 4th album, which will be released this fall.
Basic Instinct also will have a mix-tape for promo, which features this track along with “Hard In The Paint” & “Pretty Girl Swag” and many other remix tracks that are on the way. The purpose of these remixes are for promo and buildup of the album/era.

It should be no sercret at this point R&B singers are taking a page out of the rapper’s playbook, drop a mixtape in conjuction with the LP.

I think if were up to her she would have dropped a long time ago. As long as singers, rappers, etc. are on major labels they won’t CONTROL anything. Corprate interest have screwed urban music something serious. I think in the next few years a large majority of urban artist are going to be independant.
