2010 has been a rough a year so far for former chart-topper Christina Aguilera. In addition to her ‘Bionic’ album being a commercial dud, the singer has had to endure the end of her marriage to her husband of 5 years, Jordan Bratman.
However, Aguilera has not allowed such shortcomings to keep her back and in a new interview with Redbook she has finally opened up about how she is managing to cope with those issues. Check out what Aguilera had to say below about her divorce and the allegations that she cheated on Bratman below:
On the split: “It’s not easy and there have been a lot of tears and sadness. It’s impossible to redefine yourself and your life overnight. Thankfully, I have my mom and a small group of close friends who are there for me 24/7 and whom I can trust and depend on. On days when it feels impossible to even get out of bed, much less function as a mother, their support and encouragement have kept me moving forward.”
On the rumors of infidelity on both sides: “Out of respect for my husband, I prefer to keep the specifics private. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to make it through each day.”
On her focus during this rough time: “Thankfully, I have [my 2-year-old son] Max to keep me on a sane path. His needs and happiness are my top priorities, and my biggest concern is to protect him and make him feel safe.” {Source}

What I don’t understand is out was BIONIC a flop? True, this album hasn’t sold as much as her past albums but to me the album was success. I actually picked up her album last weekend and I can honestly say that Christina gave me everything on that album. RandB, POP, salsa, techno, etc. This album was beyond good. I just honestly think she chose the wrong singles.

Upon release, the album Bionic received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised Aguilera for being daring and experimental, while others felt that she was heavily influenced by Lady Gaga, which resulted in inconsistency and genericity. Christina Aguilera is all about reinvention, which has worked well in her favor throughout her career. But, even after her “Dirrty”/”Stripped” era, Chrisitna’s outspoken openness toward her sexuality acted as a barrier at times. It became tiresome with the constant talk of defending your sexuality by exposing your sexuality to everyone. It’s great that she’s standing for something and making it clear that she knows who she is—-the tendency to be politically correct for the sake of not catching bad publicity has become all too prevalent. We all know that Christina can sing, but her ability to over-blow her vocals in every which direction is just so much. I was glad to see Christina tone it down during this route. I think for Christina, not singing full out is probably the most vulnerable, insecure place for her. So, with Bionic, it was more club, techno pop orientated album. Though it didn’t sell well with some, doesn’t mean the quality of the music was effective.
