R&B star rocked the red carpet last night at the ‘Ultimate Face-Lift’ gala to benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The event, which took place at Lord & Taylor‘s in New York, was also attended by the city’s mayor Michael Bloomberg – who was snapped posing with the stunning ‘Ride’ singer.

Randomness: While we evidently take to Ms. Harris here at That Grape Juice, it’s impossible to side-step the fact there’s some serious BS popping off behind the scenes with this ‘Basic Instinct’ project.
All signs point to the album itself having been finished some time ago; yet, despite dropping one of the hottest videos of the year with ‘Gimmie Dat’, her promotional train has barely left the station. No televised performances and minimal interviews. Do her team expect to cram the bulk of her promo-push into the week of release and/or after? If so, they may be in for a rude awakening. Singles, as most know, are used as vehicles to drive album sales. Hence if the singles aren’t being pushed (and believe that both ‘Speechless’ and ‘Gimmie Dat’ are already available on iTunes), then what do they expect back in terms of album sales?
As sad as it is to say, it’s all looking rather bleak at the moment; which has me really itching to see Ciara manage to turn it all around. For, on her end – she appears to be fulfilling her obligations as an artist (delivering hit worthy material, bettering herself as a performer – both vocally and with the choreography); yet the forces around her don’t seem to be syncing to make it all work.
Regardless of how this all pans out, it will be oh-so-interesting to see what changes, if any at all, Ms. Harris makes (see: label, management, image) after riding this campaign out.

Sam I agree with everything you said, she spend all this time going to these red carpet events and not promoting her songs, I’ve never heard gimme dat on the radio,I saw her tweeting the other day about gimmie dat being #1 on the BB lmao, this girl is a joke, if her album fails she deserves it, ride has been out since may and even today the only televised appearance she did was 106 n park, she and her team is definetly not serious about her career

Ci can only perform at things that her team set up for her.. where is her MANAGER? Sonja Norwood would NEVER. I would say maybe the venues just don’t want Ciara there, but that wouldn’t make sense. The girl kills the stage.
Personally I feel like “Gimme Dat” was a bad single choice because it’s too dance and not urban enough. If they wanted to keep the “theme” of this era going they should have released something harder. She hasn’t even fully won the urban audience over again and they are already shoving her on the pop audience. The pop audience is fickle and they didn’t like “work” so why would they release “Gimme Dat”? I love “Speechless” but in the video she didn’t even TRY and she probably needed a harder edged song at radio. I just CAN’T sometimes!

I feel bad for Ciara because I know she works hard. However, her team needs to pull in the promotion…..LIKE NOW.
I honestly do not know what is going on and why they are not promoting. Usually when they do that. is because they feel like the album isn’t going nowhere and I hope that is not the case.
If they start promotion in mid November, that will be great and with an AMA performance this album can go somewhere.

I don’t know that we can blame her “team”! I honestly believe that it’s this new, “controlled ” music industry! Those artists who have 360 deals are receiving all the attention from music excs/companies (see Lupa Fiasco & NAS). That means only a few artsists are receiving constant invitations to do radio interviews, mag covers, & make TV appearances. Nowdays it seems to be up to the fans to push the issue tor their favs which is sad!

I also agree with Sam, it seems like Ciara spends more time trying to get photo-ops with Kim Kardashian than she does promoting her album. I thought the dancing was great in ride, and I love her athleticism in Gimme Dat as well, however she has yet to come out with a hit. Poor Girl! If she thinks the Dream is going to be her savior, maybe someone should remind her about Mariah Carey’s last album.

She’s the one who chose Trickey Stewart and The Dream to record the majority of “Fantasy Ride” and she’s the one who came up with that stupid superhero idea.
She now wants to “go back to her roots” and chose Trickey and The Dream again for this new flop and frankly, her material is very ghetto, amateurish, and not in. Her time is up. She’s like Ashanti. She came out right place and right time and got success at one point of her career but then everything went downhill. Ciara is not serious about her career. She would rather hang out B list and D list celebs than focus her tiime on getting her career together, I believe her 15 minutes are up. The same can be said for Kelly R. All her and Ciara does is take photoshoots, walk red carpets and hang out.
I honestly feel Ciara is happy now, though her music career isn’t progressing. To me she always wanted to be the “socialite, model type” and that’s exactly what she is doing. However, in doing so somewhere she lost focus on her music.
