Get ready for an ‘escapade’ because Janet Jackson is going on tour! The icon announced today that she has received new inspiration from her fans and will be launching her “largest ever world tour” in 2011.
Jackson has opened the floor for her fans to pick the 35 cities – 1 for each of her biggest hits – that she will visit during the trek. In addition, she will be partaking in a special Q&A with The Boombox where fans will be allowed to submit questions to be asked on November 30th. Look below for Jackson’s announcement:

Rock Witchu Tour did not sell out Madison Square Garden. She only sold out 83% of the venue. Janet stans clinging to that one night corporate gig she played at the Essence festival as some sort of “proof” of her crowd drawing ability is sad When she headlined her own tour, it was for all intents and purposes a failure.

Discipline’s highest charting single only barely cracked the top 20 and isn’t even close to being Gold. And before you pull that ‘because of Justin crap,’ I will remind you that Janet teamed up with hit maker Nelly for “Call On Me” in 2006 and even that didn’t go top 20. Madonna’s Drowned World Tour and Janet’s All For You Tour also kicked off around the same time, and again…Madonna won. Furthermore, Madonna’s 1990 the Blond Ambition Tour outgrossed Janet’s Rhythm Nation tour that year. Not totally sure, but I would guess that the only time Janet probably beat Madonna on the road was with janet. vs. The Girlie Show.
Madonna’s recording contract with Live Nation is worth $120 million, and with that she became the female artist with the largest recording contract ever…topping that 80 million deal Janet had a decade and a half ago. @ Yep I’m a Madonna fan… I can’t spend alot of time with you, but I thought I’d comment on what you’ve mentioned before I make my exit.
Your comparing Hard Candy to Janet’s Discipline. The thing is that Madonna promoted the album and Janet abandoned hers after the first single. Madonna did sell more, but the sums that both albums have generated are still quite close.
Madonna (full promotion) to Janet’s 449,000(after 1 single).
If they both were out selling albums on even terms Janet would have sold more going at this rate.
If Justin’s assistance on the song was the sole reason for it’s success, then tell me why haven’t any of her other singles performed this well? You’ve mentioned how Janet have worked with Nelly, but he didn’t hold the same status that he once did in 2006 and that song (Call on Me) still managed to be a #1 R&B song.
Madonna have done well with her tours, but she was touring for 2years. I’m not down playing her success with them, but she has toured for long periods of time. It’s not as if she’s be able to compete with Barbara Streisand or other high profile acts without going this route to surpass them. Janet’s 9 million was made in less than 2months, with scheduled dates that were missed(due to her being ill) and future touring dates that were cancelled where people were refunded their money. Again, not a fair fight. It seems like Madonna’s stans follow their leader and like to play dirty.
Janet has sold 100million albums, not 100 million less than half of Madonna. Her total including single sales have not been noted. Her first 3 successful albums are under certified and I can’t even begin to explain how likely it is for her to be at a much higher range than you’d think. Madonna has 51 million sold in greatest hits albums. Madonna have 23 albums to Janet’s 12. Subtract her (6)greatest hits albums and their pretty close to each other. Again, it’s a difference when you look at the big picture. Janet have sold the bulk of her sales with only 5 albums. That says alot. For Madonna to have twice as much material but similar stats to Janet is baffling (Madonna 12#1 Hot 100’s to Janet 10, Madonna’s 7#1 albums, to Janet’s 6) isn’t as impressive.
Madonna is mentioned in Guinness , but Janet is Billboard’s #2 artist of the year in the 90’s , behind Mariah. She has 7 top 5’s off of 1 album (a record that hasn’t been broken still til this day). She’s the only artist to have #1’s in several charts on billboard (Hot 100, R&B, Pop, Adult Contemporary, Rap and Dance charts) and the first artist to have a #1 on the Hot 100 in every decade from the 80’s to the 90’s to ’00.
Madonna has 19 films (that I’ve counted) which have grossed over 500 million. Janet is near that sum with only 5. Janet hasn’t been in half as many films and this again is a weak comparison and shallow victory.
Madonna was banned, but in all fairness her videos were to sexual to air on television because you have to be mindful of what children are able to view. She was always encouraged to be racy(similar to how Gaga is now). It was what’s expected. It never was a hindrance. Janet has had the bad end of the stick with the superbowl incident and this is much more of an career crippling issue, than what Madonna ever faced. Despite it all Janet is still having great success, which would not be easy for any artist in her shoes.
Lastly , I just want to say that the 80 million Janet received for her record deal was ground breaking and Madonna managed to get hers for 120 after it was more common for artist to get bigger deals. The last 1 Whitney got was for 100million. Mariah’s was pretty high as well at one point.

Once you see on Janet show you’ve seen them all. She’s gonna do that same old tired pop ‘n lock toy soldier choreography with 30 dancers behind her, she’s gonna do a bunch of melodies, and it’s gonna be all lip sync.
Once you see one Janet show, you’ve seen them all. She offers nothing new.
DOESN’T everybody lip sync….it’s impossible to do a 2 hour plus show and dance and entertain at the same time….SIDE NOTE*** Everybody Lip Syncs! *** It’s part of touring. Think about it what about them nights the artists voice is hoarse or sore, the show must go on.

That should always be #1. Choreography should never be more important than live vocals. That’s the problem with studio singers like Janet Jackson. They have to up the dance numbers and visual distraction as an excuse to leave their mics turned off. I wish the music industry would go back to the days of Pearl Bailey, Sarah Vaughn, Lena Horne and Etta James, where you either could sing your b*** off, or you weren’t allowed on stage.
