R&B diva Keyshia Cole has axed her manager following the poor commercial and crtical reception of her fourth studio album, ‘Calling All Hearts’.

Despite debuting at #9 on the Billboard 200 last month, the LP has -as of last week-only managed to shift 181, 300 in total. A far cry from the Platinum success of Cole’s three earlier albums.
This, it seems, was enough for the singer to axe longtime manager Manny Halley – who many will remember from her BET reality show ‘The Way It Is’.
Confirming Halley’s departure on Twitter yesterday, Cole said:
Would like for u guys to know tht Manny Halley is no longer my management.
Someone said if the people around u won’t change, change the people around you.
Granted, there’s no doubt more to the story (beyond solely the album’s failure), I sure hope she’s not putting all her recent career woes down to one person. For, along with management, her A&R needs checking for all the wack material she’s been recording and releasing since her 3rd LP, as does her vocal coach – as her live performances show that clearly someone hasn’t been doing their job.
In any case, the whole shabang is rather unfortunate, for Cole is actually talented. Yet, if this episode highlights one thing, it’s that her ‘rough diamond’ appeal can only last so long. There comes a time where folk won’t pardon wack vocal showings, spotty material, and unrefined performances, simply because they ‘like’ or ‘identify’ with you. Put simply, Keyshia has long needed to ‘step it up’ on many a front. Perhaps her latest issues will serve as motivation enough to.

In reality @tyrell her singles just don’t make me wanna buy her album. Hopefully she will do better as far as crossing over. She is a decent writer it seems and she has a nice tone. Her new CD was horrible and I think she knows it. The beats are VERY weak and it’s not the old Keyshia she said it would be from the first album.

I am a ride or die Keyshia fan, but even I can admit that Calling All Hearts is not her best work. Her sophomore album, Just Like You, remains my favorite. Still love her though.

I am a Keyshia fan for life. Yeah, this album isn’t her best, but it certainly isn’t bad. Keyshia’s first official album, The Way It Is, is my personal favorite. She was raw, but that’s one of the things that initially drew me to her music. Just the same, many Mary J Blige fans will tell you What’s the 411? was her best album and plenty after could have been better. I still love MJB too. The biggest issue for both Keyshia and MJB always was and always will be the haters. In the music business, just as in life, you can’t be perfect for everyone all the time!
Good!!! Hopefully they will have someone steer her in a better direction and get her more publicity. The last CD ( A Diiferent Me) was a great album, she just made bad choices for her first singles. Way better material on the album. This current CD is ok at best. That I Aint Thru crap coulda stayed on the cutting room floor. She shoulda led off with Take me Away..
keyshia has made alot of mistakes this go round, first of all, she dissed her family and started acting like she was better than them, when they are a big part of the reason we fell in love with Keyshia.
second, the music was wack, her first cd was good and her second cd was excellent, but then she went in a different direction with her third cd and she started losing her audience, but this cd sounds like she recorded it in one day and the nicki track was the worst song on the cd, should not have been a single, let alone the first single.
third, the competition. Fantasia, Jazmine sullivan, monica and Chrisette Michele all put out great r&b cd’s and backed them up with great live vocal performances, at one point keyshia looked as if she was getting better with the vocals, what happened?
And change the field to Keyshia Cole… not Nicki Minaj… get it together That Grape Juice… and stick with the facts as opposed to putting your personal thoughts in every post! UGH!!! I used to love this website, but as time goes on you get just like those other lame websites.
I think it was probably all in good reason. Manny has been with her for a while, however, she hasn’t really helped her get to where she really needs to be. Hopefully she get a really good one soon. The album is really good people, yes the 1st single was a mistake, but the rest of it is a smash.
Ummm this isn’t her third CD, it’s her fourth! Things started going south for her after she released “A Different Me”. I’m not gonna blame her weak material on the fact that she’s “happy” now, but I’ll blame it on herself and her team. She needs better writers and producers. Just because your “happy” doesn’t mean your material has to be flat out WEAK!!! Her debut and sophomore albums were classics in my opinion because the lyrics, melodies, beats and emotions were all on point. They both had a theme, and she stuck with them. Her next two albums are pretty lackluster. Weak vocals, ok lyrics, uncatchy melodies and boring beats. Keyshia needs to go back to the drawing board if she wants her career back.
Her album is actually excellent! Even that track with Nicki Minaj is good, it’s just that it wasn’t LEAD SINGLE material. Keyshia already admitted that the selection was hers so to me that means that her manager must have fought with her to get that single released. I love Keyshia to death but the same thing happened with her last album – she fought for wack a** single releases that didn’t get non-die hard fans or the pop audience jazzed about her project.
I too, think there’s a lot more fire behind this smoke screen – if you got her album & read the liner notes, her tone towards Manny was apparent in what she wrote as were her comments towards Frankie & a few of her siblings.
I hope that this move can help her image wise, vocally and in all ways because I root hard for this young woman to succeed and I am sick of her and the other talented young female r&b singers’ albums tanking due to lack of support!

Sometimes and Thank You are the strongest songs on this cd IMO. Nickie Minaj doing all that nasty cussing is not the image that Keyshia has portrayed all this time. I have all her cd’s but A Different Me and Just Like You are my favs. Record companies are ruthless. Just take your time and please practice more for live performances. They really do matter. Also the artwork for this cd was horrible. She is in a happy place now so why does she look like a sad clown on the cover of that cd?

If im not mistaken i thought Keyshia was being the Boss of this project and she fires her manager cuz her singles failed… Her whole album is a Fail. Keyshia get it 2gether. Im a fan of Keyshias but i dont know what the hell she was thinkin with this album. U know u can do better than that.
Keyshia’s CD was actually pretty good. Of course it’s not on the same level as ‘Just Like You’, but this album is more varied. ‘A Different Me’ was a complete fail (except: ‘Trust’ and maybe ‘Brand New’), because the happiness sounded very forced. BUT if you look at ‘Calling All Hearts’, there’s everything, that’s why the album title! There are songs for the lovers (‘What You Do To Me’, ‘Take Me Away’, ‘Better Me’), for the heartbroken (‘Tired Of Doing Me’, ‘If I Fall In Love Again’, ‘Long Way Down’, ‘Confused In Love’, ‘´So Impossible’, ‘Last Hangover’, ‘Where Would We’ etc.) and some different songs, which show a different side of Cole (‘Sometimes’, ‘Thank You’). So tell me what’s so wrong with the LP in your opinion?
‘I Aint Thru’ is her weakest single to date, damn it’s the weakest song on the whole album. But Cole’s numbers weren’t bad at all!! Look at Faith, Chrisette, Jazmine, Fantasia, Keri and Ciara. Keyshia did better than all these artists, to be honest, she did (almost) more than Jazmine, Chrisette, Faith and Ciara COMBINED!

“I Ain’t Thru” is a dope song to me, but I always thought it should have been a bonus track, not a first single. The album is really nice though.. SAMantha (the author of this wack post) needs medication. When the single first came out, he was creaming his pants about how much he liked it. Record sales have nothing to do with the quality of the music, Keyshia’s real fans will continue to support her.
I believe the label could have promoted way more than they did, and who knows the REAL reasoning behind Manny being let go, we are on the outside looking in. Keyshia had strong numbers, she’ll be okay. #tisall.

The album is good but with 3 platinum albums I expected more growth from her. Her vocals were not her best. Even the label was not happy with the album. They wanted to shelf it. That’s why there was no promo for it. Manny serves just as a coach on team does. He was insisting this was good work. It was to an extent. On a labels perspective Keyshia should have progressed as an artist more. Managers are instrumental in a career. The manager job is to help the artist grow and become better. As an artist progress, the manager needs to as well.(no yes man allowed) If hes not on top of it then…. Some feel the album seems rushed. To me seems if she not feeling it. In her performances and interviews.
Keisha Cole should fire more than her manager. The whole Keisha Cole camp should be fired. This is the truth: Keisha Cole is too urban to sell to the other markets. Other people cannot relate to Keisha because she has the stigma of being ghettofabolous, hood. The buying population that buys CDs and not download or bootleg music can’t relate to you somehow, how can your music sells. IMO: Keisha should cover up those tatoos, change her hair color back to black. Find a stylist that can dress Keisha less ghetto. And distance herself from Frankie and Neffie. I, know that sounds harsh, but Mary J,Blige did a 360 in her career and she’s doing great. Plus, Keisha needs a real Public Relations team.

I absolutely love Keyshia! She is very talented and has grown as a music artists and her voice has gotten a lot better. “Calling All Hearts” definitely had a slow 90’s R&B feel to it. I think that’s why people weren’t feeling it. “Just Like You” was excellent but I liked “A Different Me” much better. It was more uplifting, upbeat, sultry, and classy. The real reason why “Calling All Hearts” failed is because of A&R! I just hate when talented artists release an album when the single has only been out for like 2 weeks! The first single was okay, but was more of an album filter. It has good melodies but a weak track. Keyshia, honey, you should’ve let “Long Way Down” play on the radio for two months and then had your album come out, then released another track. Because she has such a solid fanbase, she could’ve sold 300,000 the first week, like she did with “A Different Me” with just one single. Also, where was your promotion? You don’t have to be on every cover of magazines because you’re not a gimmick artist, but I didn’t see you on any big time daytime shows like Regis & Kelly, Ellen, Good Morning America, or even performing for Billboard. I didn’t even see you appearing at any events or award shows! It was a combination of things.
BTW if she sold 181,000 copies of the album after almost a month of it being out, then LOL at Keri’s flop a** who was right behind her! She’s only sold 150,000!
First off Keyshia did’nt flop her album sold almost 130k it’s first week out. It’s only been out for a short amount of time. It’ll probably grow and atleast go gold. I Ain’t Thru was the wrong choice for a single, it was a dud. The whole album seemed rushed. It almost came out of nowhere. She has her moments where she sounds good tho. But their are definitely Urban hits on this album. Distancing herself from Neffe and Frankie was’nt the issue, she has to grow, and they were holding her back in terms of her creative process. Sorry to hear he is no longer her manager. However, not sure what all the criticism is about. Keyshia’s latest album is really good. You can definitely see her growth. Maybe everyone should listen before believe all the nay sayers. The album needed better promotion and maybe a better first single. That is all.

Good evening and good afternoon and to everyone and God bless you all I know of Keyshia Cole I met her a long time ago I was walking past this beautiful young lady where I lived and she was crying and I got really concerned and asked young lady was she okay was there anything that I can help her with and she said no she was waiting on a ride I had no idea who she was she was a total stranger to me but I stayed there with her for a while and talk to her and she stopped crying and she told me her story and I listen and I said to her everything was going to be all right keep the faith and the belief everything is going to be fine darling what was meant to happen it’s going to happen and it happened she is who she is today and I said don’t let no one put you down or give you low self-esteem she may not remember me but then again she may or to take care missed cole I hope and pray this little story get to her and will bring back to someone some of her good times and talking to me a positive woman take care
