I am a Bey stan, but she DOES be sexual, though not some people think. The only song she actually sang about s**[on IA..SF] was VIDEO PHONE and the video(which I like more than the song actually) actually had a empowering female aspect to it even if it was very sexual in nature. And you won’t hear Bey sing of 3 somes, whips and chains and etc. Compared to most…she’s almost like a Sunday School Teacher. But ummm…..a lot of the videos she does is inspired by Bettie Page who is a 50s pin-up queen(going back to Naughty Girl) so let’s not use the “Rihanna’s oversexual” argument to attack the video. It’s amazing how R&B men can get away with being sexual but women can’t. The double standards are doing too much in my eyes.
As for this video: Several things. I like how she basically is using “S&M” to show that sadist nature of the media and she’s pretty much for like of a better phrase: “You are my Bishes. Nothing you do or say about me can hurt me, but since I am the star, I control with you and I use you with the image that I want to present to you.” It gives the song more depth than just the typical whips and chains sexual message that S&M implies. Very vivid color wise, she’s a very beautiful girl and I always said that she has great charisma. She is also a better visual artist than she is a vocalist/performer. It’s a good video and it will help the song be a hit. I give it 3.75 out of 5 stars.

@ Beyonce : Her name alone defines greatness. I am so glad that you have made a few points. I totally agree with you, Beyonce doesn’t have to change her image drastically to appeal to people and sell albums. She is true to herself and I respect her for that and admire her for it as well. I did appreciate how Rihanna was changing up and really coming into her own in the GGGB era. I think artist should be different and express themselves in ways that represent them and it’s nice that people aren’t the same. Some things work for some and not for others. I think Rated R, showed some artistic growth and might be my favorite era for Rihanna (GGGB, gives it a good run). Loud appears to be a bit forced and unnatural. Still, it is a cut above the rest that do similar music to Rihanna. I see what sets her apart from so many other artist, but Rihanna has to push herself to greater heights. She’s never at her best when she’s being lazy. I still hope that with Skin (if it’s ever made a single) she shows us that she has another side to her that is authentic and I hope she start flaunting it. I’d love to see her stop being in character.

Alright, as for the video itself, I had to watch it three times in a row to understand what the f*** is going on. Visually it’s beautiful, but aside from that it is just one hot boiling mess. I know that videos do not have to match the song, but this is too random and all over the place. I’m sorry, but I really don’t get how she is punishing the press by being their sexual fantasy. Yes, she’s has them tied up, wearing rubber ball gags, on a dog leash and whipping them, but that still doesn’t look like any kind of punishment to me!
