Adele never ceases to amaze. The singer’s ’21’ album has reclaimed the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 with a tremendous increase in sales, besting all contenders.
’21’ experienced a 65% rise, selling another 153k units and giving it a 5th non-consecutive week at the chart summit. However, Adele wasn’t the only artist to enjoy a boost in popularity thanks to the Easter sales rush.
Britney Spears’ ‘Femme Fatale’ climbed 1 spot to #5 with 45k copies sold (up 6%).Even Justin Bieber’s ‘Never Say Never: The Remixes’ surged from #22 to #10 by selling 36k (up 85%). Finally, Chris Brown’s ‘F.A.M.E.’ sold 37k (up 4%), nabbing the #9 spot.

Its a temporary iTUNE sell on select CD’s. They do it periodically! I think its a promotion to get ppl who may not have intially thought about buying the CD an opportunity to take an inexpensive risk and buy it. The price will go back to its regular price after the promtional is over!

Not taking anything away from the album, it is by far 1 of the best albums out. I cant get into all the songs, but the songs I love on the album are F****** FANTASTIC.

What the heck are you talking about? Chris is doing quite well considering he has done no major promoting of that CD. He’s done 3 TV programs since the release of F.A.M.E.! Every other artist has been all over TV from American Idol to the Today Show to the Tonight Show to VH1/MTV concert specials (Adele) etc. They also receive the most favorable press! Inspite of not promoting in the US he continues to be in the top 10 of the countires top 200 Albums/CDs!! Seems like a Christmas miracle to me! 🙂

Why is it a problem that the people like Adele’s music? It’s not about black and white. Teena Marie put out good quality music. Did her race matter? No it was the MUSIC and the APPEAL it gave to her audience. Same here for Adele. She’s putting out music that people can appeal too and that’s why she’s having so much success and I’m glad for her. Because today the music that’s out now is garbage and have no substance or orginality.

Corporate dollars dictate music industry success!! She is played on every network not just pop or adult contemp but R&B stations as well!!
The award granting committees will more than likely place here in the Soul/R&B category and give her that award if they elect to give Gaga an award for her pending project!! You see how they shoved the new Pop Princess,”Hooves in Mouth”, into the Soul/R&B category at the AMAs as to give the Pop honors to Gaga or Naked Perry. I can’t recall which?

Rihanna’s album has consistantly been in worldwide top since its release, forget about openning week sales. Britneys new album is track far behind the circus which went on to sell 4million. Loud has already reach that number and will continue to sell. Femme Fetalle wont be able to compete with loud becos in the worlds second biggest market (the UK) its number 29 after only 4 weeks, whereas rihanna is number 5 and has sold 1m in that territory already. I’m no stan of anyone but its obvious that Rihanna is gonna come out on top in the end

Not all music that’s out today lack substance, just the music that is promoted by the corporate owned music industry. I have never seen so much disposable music in my life. #1 songs that come and go like the tide. Cheap pairs for the sole purpose of getting a quick #1 record! This is what is promoted by the industry. It’s unfortunate becuase there is a great deal of talent that is constantly overlooked. There are also some good artists who have begun feeding into this nonsense and are producing garbage out of desperation trying to stay relevant!
