American Idol alum Jordin Sparks is all grown up, and wants to make sure you know it.
Rocking a new slimline figure, the season 6 winner returned to the Idol stage last night to make an emphatic statement with a live showing of new single ‘I Am Woman’.
Weave-tossing, hip-shaking, and Naomi Campbell walking, Sparks’ performance seemed quite familiar.

Clearly, someone has been watching ‘The Beyonce Experience’. Not that there should be any shame in Sparks’ game; for, to be the best, you have to study the best.
However, having still not established an image or lane for herself musically, the 21 year must ensure she does so with this latest project. Because after the sales of ‘Battlefield’ (180,000 in the US… to date), I’m shocked there’s a new project to begin with.

There was nothing Beyonce about this performance. Just because she is singing and daincing does not mean she is trying to be Beyonce. And Beyonce is not the only one who can sing a female anthems. People like Shania Twain-I feel like a Woman, Aretha Natural woman and many more did way before her. It was a great performance and very energetic. She is my favourite winner of the show. She has great talent and hope this time she is more successful. I liked her last album singles.

Inspired by Beyoncé or not (and if she is, it should obviously be taken as a compliment), this performance wasn’t very good. It seems like she’s trying to be this person she really isn’t. Looks a bit forced.

Exactly the same could be said for pretty much every artist of this generation. Nobody is original in the sense of coming up with anything new, so originality these days is taking from whomever inspires you and making it your own. I’m sure if you have a fave artist from this era, they’re probably no less of “copycats” than Beyoncé is.

Jordin did an amazing job especially considering all the past music she has sung before. She now has an uptempo/midtempo song and has the body to be dancing and running around on stage and she did it up! She did a GREAT job and has the type of voice to pretty much sing anything. The performance was probably inspired by Beyonce but this song is MUCH better than “Run The World (Girls)” it was AWESOME!
I don’t like this song but she did a great job. I don’t know if there was a video lag or if she was singing over a track as there seems to be a disconnect between her lips and the video feed! LOL 🙂
