The whole thing with Bey and the songwriting. That’s a heavy debate, but from what I’ve seen she gives credit to her writers. I personally feel like any deal they agree upon and release music under is their business. We don’t know if she has ghost writers unless we’re in the same room during the writing and recording process. There’s no receipts.

@ Terrence, where your coming from is even clearer after reading your last comment, but it’s still bias. Your given Rihanna and Gaga allowances. You’ve admitted that you’ve seen some Bey in Rihanna when she was new , which means that she wasn’t starting out in the business with her own identity. I like the new Rihanna way better than the one from 2005, myself (so Ri stans this is not personal), but my point is that you weren’t critical of that. Loud and All For you are similar to me because both ladies went ultra pop after the dark era (which would seem to be the next obvious calculated move), but until I see where she goes next I can’t say that she’s not inspired by Janet. Loud doesn’t seem like the GGGB era at all, because even that album had a certain grit to it that’s not present with this Loud. It just seem like Loud is the result of having different producers design an album for you. It’s wearing many faces and I don’t think it’s something that can’t be duplicated or seen as something extra special. Still, it’s a solid mixing of different pop elements. It is a decent album.
Irreplaceable was written by Ne-yo and arranged by Beyonce. I’m a song writer and trust me, that’s a big part of writing a song. Remember how Tboz (from TLC) wrote a poem that became a song (Unpretty)… Arranging is an integral part of the whole process. Words are nothing without a melody when it comes to music.
As for Bey’s last hit being SL – that remains to be seen. To be honest, she’ll already be remembered and put on a pedestal because of all that she’s done so far! So, the rest is icing!

So your saying Rihanna copied Janet because GGGB was a dark album like TVR (which I agree with) and because Loud is a more pop album? I dont think of Janet at all with that, I think of Janet with GGGB because of the look,& the albums content. The content for Loud is NOTHING like All For You for me, not look wise or content wise (and I love both albums). I didnt like Rihanna in 05 either, or 06. But in 07 she found a sound and style that works and I think Loud picked back up on that.

Alright Beyonce…. Show me that you are still relevant with this video. This era will define whether or not her new management was a good move. Right now the answer is still in the air. @Terrance, With the Rihanna and Janet thing, I think Loud was just rihanna’s fun album and that was certainly the theme for Janet too. I feel like Rihanna’s current look (red hair) and even her style is very Janet like. I see that she wants to have that same s** appeal and it’s working for her. A lot of people emulate Janet, just like they do most of the greats (MJ, Prince, Madonna, Whitney and Mariah). So, when you speak of people not imitating Bey , Usher , Rihanna and so on… your point is very valid. They’ve already taken something from the best(even though I’ve still seen people copy certain things that Bey does – we both agreed that Rihanna did in 2005).
That’s why I don’t understand why Bey has to have the burden of “coming up with something nobody has done before musically or video wise”. It’s all been done before and you’ll always be able to trace something back to a time where it was done by another artist. Artist these days will borrow, but some do it to the point where you don’t see any creativity of their own. It’s one thing to be influenced, but to be a clone of another artist is unexceptable. I think Rihanna has found inspiration in Janet and I think Gaga is “borrowing” way too much from Madonna. Yes, Bey has a lot in common with Tina Turner – but in all fairness you can find what Bey is bringing to the table in her work as well. Your being harder on Bey, but I think everyone should be graded on the same scale (wether you like or dislike them).
They song writing, like I said is debatable. If your adding phrases like “to the left”, than you are contributing. You are co-writing and it should be seen that way , especially when she’s adding the most memorable part to the song. Again, your downplaying arranging and that is writing because your giving the song it’s feeling.

I dont consider coming up with the melody writing a song at all, melody’s come to you like words but words are said and needed. And when you say “I wrote this song” whats automatically implied is “I wrote these words” not this melody. And I know all that about lyrics and melody’s 1 of the main reason Left Eye got writing credits for alot of TLC songs were because of her raps in them, and yea T-Boz got a writing credit because of her poem unpretty, but she wrote the poem, and the poem consists of most of the words that are in Unpretty. Kandi Burruss wrote the songs Hey Ladies, Buga Boo, & Bills Bills Bills And yet Beyonce has claimed song writing credits,and Kandi said on the radio that had to come to a cash settlement for those songs and not giving Kandi the credit.
The list of songs Beyonce has claimed to write and then got sued for for not giving the real songwriters credit is WAY to long, and is more than enough for me to never respect her as a “songwriter”. Because no she’s not the 1st singer to lie about song writing but she’s the 1st that I noticed get caught and sued and dragged out abotu it all the time.
And ya your right, nobody but Michael expected him to beat Thriller and the bigger hit than I will always love you never came, and thats my point. I called it from the second that song got big, it was her PEAK, and the rest is downhill. Case in point, this song here.
