I love how the ignorant cling to their false beliefs. Amazon sale was for two days only; for 5 out of the 7 days, the digital album sold at the full price. And the 99c sale was not availably to anyone outside the US so it had ZERO impact on the non-US charts. More importantly, since amazon doesn’t report its cd sales to Soundscan (Billboard’s sole source for cd sales figures), Gaga was robbed of all the physical cds that amazon sold (some sources put that at over 200K). And equally important, the cd sales in 20,000 other stores not included in Billboard charts are also not counted. So potentially, Gaga’s 1.108 million sales figures are short by 200-400K. Anyone who is perpetuating the lie that this isn’t a record-breaking event is simply lying to themselves and everyone else.

Nice try, but that is NOT what Hits magazine said. They specifically noted that her greater drop will be directly related to the album not selling for 99cents again this week. Gaga gimmicked her way to those sales, just admit it. They did not come organically. If there hadn’t been a promotional discount in place, she would have never cracked a million.

The album is solid and considering how she promo’ed for it really hard (no to mention hyped it to death) Its not that surprising how it sold this well already.

she worked super hard for this, have u guys forgotten her promo, she was literally EVERYWHERE, now in beyonce’s case people will say she cant sell without promo so she’s not a queen but gaga has been hyping since september and promoting for 3 months nonstop. am no britney fan but if she had the same promo level, she’d outdo gaga, see what she’s doin now with minimal promo
@Are You Serious: ARE YOU SERIOUS? Ever heard of Grace Jones, Cher, Madonna, Pat Benatar, Laura Branigan just to name a few? Get on youtube and do some research. There’s very little creativity going into what GaGa is doing. Mad props to her for having the nerve and to her costume makers but her music is dicso with today’s technology. I’m a musicoligist not a fly-by-night fan. This is shock and hype in the flesh. The only way it would be called what it really is is if a minority was the artist.

BEYONCE, I love her, but she is disappointing with this ‘4’ era. Honestly, the only song I come close to liking is “Best I Never Had”. I just think she’s made some …not smart business decisions. She is just not gonna get the same numbers Gaga has even WITH a 99 cent deal because her amount of relevancy has died since her last successful single (Sweet Dreams). She isn’t promoting like she should. If she really wants to get good sales and be more relevant, then she has to promote much more. Gaga worked her ass off to get these sales. When I say she promoted, she F***** PROMOTED. That’s why I laugh at people like S*** saying: “BEYONCE GONNA MAKE 5 MILLION AT DEBUT”, Hahaha! Mad funny. If anything, Beyonce will get at least 700K first week. I mean I just don’t know, I ain’t feeling Beyonce this era. She doesn’t seem to have that much …WANT to do it anymore…. I’m sure she’ll get it back though. I just don’t see signs of her even coming close to these sales. Especially worldwide where she has done no promotion whatsoever. As far as I know, she’s only promoted here in the USA. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
BRITNEY, your next… I think she’s great. But she’s generic. She was way better back in her heyday, but now she just isn’t as appealing. Not only that, but Gaga is a way better artist and has WAAAAYYYY much more potential to become more of a legend. Britney can’t sing live, she lip syncs and did I mention the autotune? She lost her dancing which is what really kept her up there. Proof of the aforementioned statement: Billboard Music Awards performance.

I really do like Gags, but this album just doesn’t make me wanna spend “money honey”. Give me “Government Hooker” and 1 or 2 other tracks and I’m good. Hoping it’ll grow on me. Either way congrats Miss G. However, I can see where stans of her contemporaries like Beyonce and such would call foul with the .99 “deal”.
Sorry, I’ve been in a coma for 4 years. Who the hell is Lady Gaga and why is she so ugly? I tried to listen to her but her music sucks and she dresses like a clown. Can someone please explain to me why she’s so popular?

That’s the the steepest drop-off in sales, expressed in a percentage basis, of any of the 17 albums that sold 1 million units in a week in Nielsen SoundScan history.
