Sugababes Debut ‘Freedom’ At T4 On The Beach

Published: Monday 11th Jul 2011 by Sam

Having severed ties with longtime label Universal, Sony Music’s latest signee’s the Sugababes’ premiered new single ‘Freedom’ in front of thousands at T4 On The Beach yesterday.

Check out how they fared after the jump…

While the song, and its anthemic chorus, do offer hope, the shocking performance most certainly did no favours for the fourth line-up of the British brand. Indeed, the ladies harmonies were anything but that; instead sounding like a pack of wolves howling at the moon. The dancing too….cringe.

It simply goes to show, you can’t garnish something built on ‘organic’ talent and chemistry with bells and whistles designed to distract from the fact that this line-up is little more than a bad tribute act.

That said, who’s to say the trio can’t strike it lucky again. After all, stranger things have happened. They will, however, have to come harder – as wack routines and shot vocals aren’t going to add to their ever-dwindling fanbase.

This literally just KILLED the song for me. Purely wack.

  2. SkyRocket July 11, 2011

Um, is Jade lipsyncing ONLY the ad libs at the end? #Wack. Even still, she’s the only member that has a shot at a solo career. Heidi sounds really bad unfortunately, as does Amelle. However, they’re very beautiful girls, and Heidi is particularly gorgeous with a nice body. But this performance was awful.

    This song is really boring,

  4. nice_gurl July 11, 2011

The performance and the song was ok. Jade is the best one. The other two were awaful. The dancing was awful.

Hold on! What yall going on about. T4 always has sound issues. It always seems to me that the artists can’t hear themselves. Might just be the size and openness of the venue. They actually sounded aight and it was live, not pre-recorded like Derulo.

Other than that the song is what comes across as crappy. Those are harmonies, they always had interesting ones but a pack of wolves Sam? lol.

The visuals don’t go with the song, and the song doesn’t actually go anywhere and falls flat after the chorus which isn’t actually that great. Amel isn’t a great singer…..

    It was just a mess.

While the overall performance was not their best, Jade killed it on the vocals especially with the ad libs at the end and she sounded amazing. I really hope the group takes off, mostly for her sake. If not I hope she can have an amazing solo career.

    Jade is f****** fierce!

  9. DANNII July 11, 2011

No it’s the dead crowd that is more embarrassing. Jeez… I wish them luck.

  10. Kyus93 July 11, 2011

The crowd is quiet because they don’t know this song, have any of you actually been to music festivals? The crowd always gets hyped during the songs they know, they got a lot more live during the other song the Sugababes performed, About A Girl

I like it! The song is good, but they need a BIG COMEBACK with performances everywhere!

  15. Chris July 11, 2011

I actually thought it was a good performance, esp. considering they have sucked at every gig they’ve done for the last 2 years.

  17. antertain July 11, 2011

Oh that crowd was not feeling it boy!!

  18. Davy July 12, 2011

    @Ok

Seat taken…. on your fat f*****g face.

    Fantastic song

Well done girls! I will be buying

  20. Maxwell August 27, 2011

Its actually quite good IMO. They’d never been able to do a routine before line-up 4 cuz Keisha was short & ugly & couldn’t work her vibe. After Keisha was gone they surely get much closer to each other cuz there is no sick feelings now and they are a real TEAM. I still remember the old days when Keisha & Mutya were doing their body shaking on the ground and had Siobhan left standing behind during those “Run For Cover” performances, aweful. Siobhan was talented though.
