Amy Winehouse Cause Of Death Revealed

Published: Wednesday 26th Oct 2011 by David

Now three months since the passing of Amy Winehouse, the cause of the singer’s death has remained the center of much controversy, with many citing the star’s drug addiction as the only possible explanation for her untimely demise.

Today, an inquest into her death revealed all.

All the details below…

According to coroner Suzanne Greenway:

Ms. Winehouse had consumed sufficient alcohol at 416mg per decilitre [of blood] and the unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels was her sudden and unexpected death.

More than five times the legal drink-drive limit.

More interestingly, no traces of illegal drugs were found in the ‘Back To Black‘ belter’s body and her organs were reportedly in healthy condition but it was the dangerously high levels of alcohol in her system that stopped her breathing which then put her in a coma.

She was 27 years old.

How you gon drink yourself to death? I mean, I know about alcohol poisoning and all but most people would pass out before they even drink enough for it to be fatal.

She must have built her tolerance up something crazy!

Maybe what happened was exactly what her father said. She quit drinking cold turkey and after so long, her body couldn’t stand it anymore since being so dependent on alcohol that she relapsed and ended up drinking herself to death for a fix which caused a shock to her immune system.

What is interesting to note is that Ms Winehouse was said to be vehemently opposed to any sort of psychological therapy, the very thing that she probably needed to help her get to the root of her addictions. After all addiction can often be said to be the desire to have more of something even with the full knowledge that that in itself will never be enough to hit the spot- to use a common euphemism. Yet if one wants to take the discussion further one can also argue that addiction is the desire to subrogate one’s identity, circumstances, reality to another paradigm- something that Ms Winehouse did when she sang as well as challenged at the same time.

Perhaps then this is why her death and the exact nature of her death will deeply affect those of us who also have to contend with our own afflictions, source of identity and the desire at times to not have to address the very things that make us unique and whole. Something that Ms Winehouse for a period was able to do in her own way, in a way that of course wildly touched so many of us and ultimately betrayed us.

    God bless you Amy…
