R&B vixen Dawn Richard staged her first solo showcase at The Roxy in Los Angeles this week. The former Danity Kane and Dirty Money member rocked the house with her own material, as well as much loved hits from her stint with both groups.

With Richard hard at work on her ‘Goldenheart’ LP, these performances are certain to heighten the ever-growing buzz.

Peep ‘Sucka For Love’ and ‘Bullet Proof’ after the jump…

Get it DAWN!! She sounds really good on Sucka for Love. Alright, I’m feelin’ Bullet Proof as well! It has a Dido feel to it! Great job girl keep it coming….

  5. Nai October 22, 2011

Sucka for Love sounds like a track Brandy would sing. Same vibe and everything. Dawn did a good job. Hopefully she can get some back up singers and a band soon to really fill out her sound.

@NAI, “Sucka For Love” DOES sound like a song Brandy would sing. I love Dawn and I always loved this song!

  8. Unknown October 22, 2011

I love this performance, her new song but I thought her cover to Chaka Khan Ain’t nobody was another level and her tone was so Chaka’s during that performance.

  9. CALL ME HATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR October 22, 2011

  14. Millhouse October 22, 2011

Can you post a link of Dawn singing Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan.I cant find it anywhere

  15. Chill October 22, 2011

@ Ghassane you say “Sucker for Love” lipsyn who cares, hell bulletproof sounded good. And so did some of the other songs she’d performed!

  16. Independent Thinker October 22, 2011

WOW!!! I will be supporting her.

  17. VA STAND UP!!! October 23, 2011

She did great! She has a nice voice and she clearly can give a good live performance. She was definitely one of the standouts from Danity Kane, not that the other girls weren’t talented but……yeah.

I hate to admit it but I don’t think she will ever really be a successful solo artist though. I’m sure she will produce some good material on her album but I just have a feeling she is gonna have the same fate as Teairra Mari, Shontelle and the countless other singer/ songwriters who have talent but can’t really find an audience. I think she might have more success as a songwriter but good luck to her anyways.

S/N: So I guess it’s safe to say that Diddy Dirty Money is done?! I guess so….

  18. ftab October 23, 2011

Dawn is a beast she is just great

  19. The-Truth October 23, 2011

I loved watching her perform Sucka 4 Love, Hopefully her album is more along those lines.

  20. antertain October 23, 2011

Brandy similarities tone wise aside, Dawn has strong ability with her sounds and arrangements.

    Dawn is cool

  21. China October 24, 2011

@ Va Stand up I value your opinion, but I totally disagree with you on the audience part. Dawn mix tape had a million + downloads and still growing. There is no way that u could say that she can’t find the audience, because she already has. There are mix tapes out right now that hasn’t reached the magnitude as hers. I don’t know why some ppl feel this girl can’t make. According to these videos that are posted, I’m sorry I see different. I have a good eye for good performers and she’s one of them. 🙂
