Dawn Richard Talks Forgiving Diddy, Danity Kane’s 20th Anniversary, & Being Open to a FULL Reunion

Dawn Richard may be hot on the promo trail in support of her latest album, the October 9-released ‘Creole Culture,’ but that’s not stopping the eclectic R&B diva from taking time to walk down memory lane.

Joining the millions of Danity Kane fans around the globe who are still celebrating the recent 20th anniversary of the group’s eponymous debut album, Richard recently chatted it up with Hot 97’s Nessa Diab to discuss the quintet’s enduring legacy, what caused their fallout, and if there is hope for reconciliation.

Hop inside to see what she said.

When not dishing on her humble New Orleans beginnings, rise to fame, new album, the challenges of being an independent artist, the threats of AI, and more over the fulsome conversation, Nessa had Dawn to weigh in on her relationship with fellow Danity Kane members Aubrey, Shannon, D. Woods, and Aundrea.

While the ‘Only Fans’ singer admitted their communication is still strained, it doesn’t diminish her optimism that things will be different in the future.

“I want us to be good to each other. I want us to say our name and there’s such goodness in it, because we deserve that. If from that something can come, great. But, it’s deeper for me,” Richard relayed after confirming she is open to a professional reunion with the ladies. “I want us to be able to look at each other and be like ‘I trust and want that girl to win,’ and have no illness. I want that kind of respect [between us].”

Elsewhere in the chat, Dawn doubled down on her refutation that she was never invited to be part of the group’s ill-fated 2025 reunion tour (despite Aubrey’s insistence otherwise).

“I was not reached out to,” she said before saying, “People should know every time I have been reached out to [prior to the 2025 reunion], I’ve said ‘yes.'”

Regardless, Richard reiterated throughout the interview that she harbors no ill feelings toward any of Danity Kane’s members or their former mentor/label head – the embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The latter, she went on to say, has even earned her forgiveness despite her dismissed lawsuit against him for sexual misconduct, brutality, and abuse.

“Yeah,” she replied when asked if she’s forgiven Combs. “Because I don”t know how he was raised. I don’t know what caused him to be the devil or the evil that’s in him. So, I’m gonna pray for him…I forgive and move on.”

Danity Kane really has an extremely inflated view of their relevance. They didn’t seem to understand that they were participants in a Diddy side show. They have always been mildly talented disposable support staff in this story. No one has ever cared about their experience anymore than we care about the experience of the local administrative clerk at American Express. DK were never going to be able to go up against Diddy and win. Her “forgiveness” is just her finally accepting this.

The fans, me included, were delusional of thinking otherwise! It was all just a show
