Cover Star: Jenna Jams Out An Acoustic ‘Hot Like Fire’ by Aaliyah

Published: Saturday 14th Jan 2012 by Rashad

After a brief rest on the bench, this week sees the return of That Grape Juice Cover Star. Helping kick things off is folk popstress Jenna Andrews lending a Colbie Caillat-esque twist to Aaliyah‘s blazing 1996 groove ‘Hot Like Fire’.

Given the thump of the (Timbaland) single mix, this acoustic set comes as a surprisingly pleasant perspective.  Definitely left field – but not so much so that the song becomes unrecognizable – Andrews stamps the song as her own while still carrying it with a softness reminiscent of its original performer.  Doesn’t hurt that Jenna’s easy on the eyes.

Repetitive and boring… Ugh.. As for “easy on the eyes” that’s coming from the opinion of a gay dude, Sam. For those not gay, she’s freakin average at best. Maybe a 6-6.5/10 in the looks department.

Great! She has a unique tone, a very special voice overall, I really enjoyed her version of the song. I’m always glad when other artists cover Aaliyah’s songs, those tracks are timeless! Her music and she herself appealed to so many different audiences…the industry really lost an amazing artist in 2001 and she hadn’t even reached her full potential 🙁 R.I.P. Aaliyah…truly missed

It Was SURPRISING OKAY ! Trust I Have Heard Numerous Aaliyah Covers And They Sound Like FLOPS ! 😉 I Love When People Cover Aaliyah Songs Because She Created Actual Good Music Which We Have Lost Since 2001 🙂

that was good ..still a huge Aaliyah fan so I love when ppl honor her memory by covering her music or dancing to her songs and i really love the youtube videos with different clips of her dancing (even the ones where she is compared to other dancers) ..but sometimes its hard to watch because i do get sad thinking of how great an entertainer we lost one of the most successful teens of the 90’s..r.i.p still love you Baby Girl
