Brandy & Monica Mourn Whitney Houston At Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala

Published: Sunday 12th Feb 2012 by Sam

To the world she was an icon, but to them she was a friend.

Whitney Houston‘s sudden death last night has left many stunned, most especially R&B stars Brandy and Monica.

The pair, who were being coached by the late singer for their planned performance at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala, instead sat in clear disbelief at the solemn event.

Over the years, Houston took on a mentor role for both ladies. Indeed, she maintained a close bond with Brandy, while helping Monica through the suicide of her boyfriend and in other trying times. The singers will no doubt be leaning on each other during this trying time.

@Brandy & Monica, i know it is hard because it’s hard for People who
are not in the Industry but try with all your Might to hang in there. We don’t
understant this and we no doubt never will understand why some one so Full
of Love, Hope and great Out look on Her Come Back would Leave all of us so soon.
It Hurts and it hurt Bad, but through it all we have to Lean on the Almighty for strength and the courage we need to carry on. Right now it is like a opening wound and it is going to take a very long time to get a grip on what has happen to our BELOVED WHITNEY OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH HER BELOVED FAMILY!

Brandy just looks devastated! Every pic I have seen just shows ppl with blank stares on their faces. I know the only topic at that party was Whitney.

To all these people who have been disrespectful about death are out of order. Death is death, is death and regardless of the cause or if you like the person or know death affects people near and far its not nice or a subject to be joked about.
Hopefully these people will not have to face the experience or experience someone being disrespectful about their loved one.

  10. Shocked February 12, 2012

Brandy and Monica wore black and looked spooked to be in the same building as the body of the legend herself. How can you pay tribute to or celebrate the life of someone whos remains are still yet to be covered of the stated the passed in? I question the thought process of anyone who did not stay home, show up in there second choice (black dress) and refrain from partying and doing the over the pose let alone walk the carpet.

Kelly that Blue number was very Donna but you could have taken that extra carpet posing time to change, skip the carpet and go console your ex BFF and birthday buddy on a great loss.

My heart goes out to Brandy and Monica..If anyone has been following Brandy and Mo, they would know they adored Whitney. I remember Brandy would always credit Whitney as being her inspiration & idol all the time..Monica too she would always tribute whitney with songs, i remember monica performing at the sou train awards in the 90’s giving that tribute to her…also on monica’s last tour she performed ”I Have Nothing” ..God bless Whitney’s family, friends, fans and peers in the industry.
