US Charts: Adele’s ’21’ Returns To #1

Published: Wednesday 1st Feb 2012 by David

Though many have tried to, there is just no beating Brit belle Adele and her reign on the charts.

For, in what should come as little surprise to anyone, her LP ‘21′ is spending its 18th week atop the US charts, despite debuting more than a year ago.

Chart check below…

Billboard 200:

1. Adele – ’21′ – 116K (total: 6.27 M)

2. Tim McGraw – ‘Emotional Traffic’ – 68K (debut)

3. Lamb of God – ‘Resolution’ – 52K (debut)

4. Various Artists – ’2012 Grammy Nominees’ – 52K (debut)

5. Ingrid Michaelson – ‘Human Again’ – 40K (debut)

6. Various Artists – ‘Kidz Bop 21′ – 33K (total: 92K)

7. Kellie Pickler – 100 Proof’ – 27K (debut)

8. Seal – ‘Soul 2′ – 27K (debut)

9. Drake – ‘Take Care’ – 26K (total: 1.38 M)

10. Kari Jobe – ‘Where I Find You’ – 25K (debut)

Billboard Hot 100:

1. Adele – ‘Set Fire to the Rain’

2. Kelly Clarkson – ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’

3. Rihanna – ‘We Found Love (Ft. Calvin Harris)’

4. Flo Rida – ‘Good Feeling’

5. David Guetta – ‘Turn Me On (Ft. Nicki Minaj)’

6. Bruno Mars – ‘It Will Rain’

7. LMFAO – ‘Sexy & I Know It’

8. Jessie J – ‘Domino’

9. Katy Perry – ‘The One That Got Away’

10. Tyga – ‘Rack City’

If we’re going to be honest, it’s only a matter of time before ’21’ outsells Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’ and become the highest selling LP of all time.

Because as fantastical as that sounds, averaging with sales of 100k a week a year after its release just proves that the public have no intentions to end their support for the LP.

Here’s to the Adele’s continued success and the impact her music is evidently making on the world.

  2. JAKE (KING BEY, QUEEN ADELE & EMPRESS MADONNA) February 1, 2012

OH PLEASE!!! I LOVE ADELE, BUT THERE IS NO WAY SHE IS GOING TO OUTSELL THRILLER – WHAT THE “DAMN” F***??????? WHO IN THE HELL WROTE THAT S***

MICHAEL IS THE KING AND AT THRILLER’S PEAK – IT WAS SELLING, ON AVERAGE, 700K – 1M COPIES PER WEEK ACCORDING TO BILLBOARD BIZ…

EVEN WHITNEY HOUSTON’S “THE BODYGUARD” WAS SELLING ON AVERAGE 500K COPIES PER WEEK AT ITS PEAK – HENCE IT’S USA SALES AVERAGING BETWEEN 23 – 16 MILLION COPIES – THE SAME GOES FOR PRINCE’S “PURPLE RAIN” MARIAH CAREY’S “MUSIC BOX” ETC…!!!

21 HAS ONLY SOLD 6M STATESIDE AND 16M COPIES WW – THAT IS FANTASTIC BUT SHE, IN NO WAY, WILL SELL MORE THAN THRILLER WHICH HAS SOLD OVER 80M COPIES WW – SHE WOULD NEED TO SELL OVER 60M COPIES MORE IF THAT WAS THE CASE!!!

HOWEVER, THAT ADELE REIGN WON’T LET UP!!!

now THAT is what i call slaying. well done adele, show these talentless h*** how to sell records without gimmicks.

There has not been an album selling more than 100,000 copies per week in January in the USA for years I think. I´d say it´s almost weird, grammys are not even here yet, can you imagine when she wins it all that night?
Anyway… Thriller??? Really? This Patrick guy has his head in Beyonce´s ass so often he doesn´t know what he talks about, as if “21” were the 2nd best selling of all time already or something. “21” still has to outsell so many diamond albums (10 million in the USA) before that, the list is long, so to reach Thriller or Bodyguard levels…. I think it´s impossible

  8. Bey Fan… February 1, 2012

I dont know about out selling Thriller….but damn Adele.

I ask this question almost every Adele post, but who is still this lady’s album???

Im so happy for her and proud of her. And this makes up for 19 not doing better. That album was freaking great. But damn, 100,000 per week on average in this decade, it’s just unbelievable.

  9. Bey Fan… February 1, 2012

DAMN WFL is still in the top 10……. ?????

  11. Eric February 1, 2012

She is selling more than debuts! How the f*** do you do that after nearly a year of release? This success is unprecedented.

  13. T February 1, 2012

Im pretty sure her performance at the Grammy Awards will push another 200,000 next week. and it will more than likely produce another #1 single for her. i give her Major props.

  14. C-mo February 2, 2012

“When I listen to (Adele) its like I hear the voice of God.” Beyonce.

  15. sara February 2, 2012

hey adele is killing everybody out there with this s***.

  16. Stoney-Brie February 2, 2012

@Curly SUE there’s a difference between overrated and people buying your records, she’s just selling records cause of the music, she doesn’t need the media to always talk about her or praise, people are just buying her music, that’s called WINNING
