In an era when record sales are on the wane, it takes a captivating artist to rise above the flames which engulf the industry at large. Artists such Emeli Sande, who has justified her buzz today by rocketing to the top of Official UK Album Chart.

The 23 year old Scot saw her debut ‘Our Version Of Events’ open at #1 on the tally with sales of 113,000. An impressive figure it itself, the true extent of the feat is best rationalised when considering such sales would comfortably land her within the top 10 of the Billboard 200 – in the much larger country that is the US.
Just as well, as the BRIT Critics Choice winner recently told That Grape Juice that a Stateside invasion is on the cards.

Have u heard Emeli’s records? she’s the farthest from Rihanna as they come and a great thing that is too, if i may add. Why does it eat u rihanna fans up that someone can actually make it without going the “black madonna” route. Some people just have it, others have to make others believe they do – illusion at its finest
