Drake Hints At Aaliyah Duet

Published: Saturday 31st Mar 2012 by David

Since his debut, Drake has made no secret of his love for the late Aaliyah.

Tattooing her face on his back in her honor, this week saw him hint at a duet between the pair during his recent trip to the UK.

Details below…

He explained:

I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon. Some special things.

Adding, when asked if he recorded vocals for a posthumous duet with her:

Just some special things, you know. Great things for music, period.

Everybody needs to stop with Aaliyah she is dead. The more people bring her up the more i realize that honestly she didn’t really do anything big for music. Yes, the flame started but she died before she was set ablaze. Yes, she was good but nothing magical. Ciara did bigger things than her. She reminds me of Keri Hilson.. very talented and very good but not really doing anything worth remembering. After 2004 i forgot about her. The only time i even remember she exist if someone else brings her up. The only good song by her is I Miss You but she was dead by the time it was released and made a video. I might be coming off as rude but it’s the truth. Why are people still dwelling on her after 10 years. Micheal died 4 years ago and i barely hear anyone talk about him. Whitney died a month or two ago. I never hear her name either. Get over Aaliyah she is not that great.

    Drake Is Really Trying…….. #ThatIsAll

    @Therealhonestruth

Child Sit ! Aaliyah >>>>>>> Keri & Ciara Combined Hunny ! She Is Still Relevant After How Many Years!? 😉 She Still Gets BLOGS Buzzing So Just Because Your Not Checking For Aaliyah Don’t Mean S***!

@The Honest Truth….U may feel that Aaliyah didnt do anything magical but PLEASE DONT EVER MENTION Keri Wilson and Aaliyah n the same sentence EVER! Keri Wilson may write songs but shes nothing special. Shes a Basic B****! Ciara > Keri Wilson. Aaliyah is an R&B Icon! Shes influenced many singers out today. Drake needs to sit down somewhere. Then again he could b up to something special.

Im like a 4real Drake fan now. Im feeling his im just me not trying to be like anyone else im not some hard thug type dude i dont r***/sing like them personality. Reminds me alot of myself and he is a different type dude from the rest of them and he dont treat females like the rest of dudes in the industry.. I can respect that.

  9. THE KILLER BEE March 31, 2012

Oh and Aaliyah was the one to re-engergize Uptempo R&B to new heights n the mid to late 90s! So i dont know what the hell u are talkin about @ The Honest Truth. Aaliyah = over 12million albums sold n the US, over 30million WW. Ciara = 5million albums sold n the US, over 15million WW. So who’s bigger?

Drake is beginning to grate on my nerves with these collabo wants, requests, and needs! “I’m gonna do a CD with Weezy like WTT by Kanye & Beyonce’s pet camel, I want to do an entire CD with Rihanna, I want to do a duet with Aaliah”. man sit your whining self down now! I like you but come now Drake!

  12. therealhonesttruth March 31, 2012

Aaliyah and Keri are twins. just because you won’t admit it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. They are good singers and one is a good dancer but they have both not done anything big.

I LOVE Aaliyah. I don’t like Drake but if this collaboration is what it takes to spread her legacy to the next generation, then I’m ALL for it! Besides, I don’t know if he’s talking about one of his own projects, but this “duet” could mean that the album with her unreleased material may actually be released and I can’t wait for that

You are talking out of your unwiped ass and spewing a bunch of b*******. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Your commentary is not only ignorant, it’s also wack and totally unneeded. Seriously, shut up.

Now, as far as Drake goes…
I’m about tired of this fool hanging around all of these female acts. Enough. When he was in school, I wonder if he used to sit at the girls lunch table. Remember when rappers used to be alpha males? What the f*** happened? He’s closer to Justin Bieber than DMX. This generation of dudes are becoming a little too soft.

    @ THEREALHONESTTRUTH

    LOL!!

Please tell me I misread the part about Aaliyah not doing anything big!! LMAO!!

She had 3 albums that both sold over 3 million each just in the US and her 3rd album is one of the best selling and most acclaimed r n’b albums of all time ( I think it sold about 12 million!!). Many of her songs are considered urban classics. And she did all that without massive promotion on every TV show or worldwide tours.

  16. Tbozfan10 March 31, 2012

Omfg bahahahahhahahaa at the person who seriously just said that Ciara did more for music than Aaliyah. Child, April Fool’s day isn’t until tomorrow!

  17. acem March 31, 2012

LOL@THEREALHONESTTRUTH saying that Aaliyah didn’t do anything for music. “Try Again” was the first song in history to hit #1 on the Billboard 100 on airplay alone.

Shut your dumbass up. You have no idea what the f*** you’re talking about, clown.

KNEW IT! Knew this was coming, adding his rap to one of Aaliyah’s songs for a new Aaliyah album! Knew it!

    @ THEREALHONESTTRUTH
please don’t make me laugh. You obviously don’t know about music history. Aaliyah went to one of the top performing arts elementary schools in the country, toured with Gladys Knight at age 9, had her first record deal at 9, had her first gold album at 14. Hand picked three of the most emulated and talented hit makers of this generation (TImbaland, Missy, and Tank). Had “Are you that Somebody” change the game when she tim and static did the song at 4am and had it to the masters by 8am and on the radio by 10am with No album out. Was the youngest performer on the Academy Awards to Sing her song “Journey of the Past” which was nominated, Had WHITNEY HOUSTON (who you mentioned) hand pick her for the lead in “Sparkle” she was also hand picked by JANET JACKSON (Michael’s sister) to do a duet to which they never got to do….Hand picked by the famous movie producer Joel Silver in 2 matrix movies, had the money and the backing to fly her people out to record her last album in Australia in 2000. Was basically the goddaughter to QUINCY JONES and partied with the likes of LIZA MINELLI, Was pulled backstage at the MTV Janet ICON celebrity to meet STEVIE WONDER who wanted to meet HER! ALL BEFORE THE AGE OF 23!

She’s Inspired more than half of the most successful artists today sooooo please educate yourself. & If you think Aaliyah was a so/so singer please then you dont know Aaliyah’s music. She had a unique sound and she often cooed her lyrics to have that signature s*** sound. BUT anyone who has worked with Aaliyah or ever saw her live or when she wasn’t shy knows she was a BEAST and knocked out most of her songs in a series of one takes!

woooo anywhoo lmfao I personally haven’t LOVED Drake’s Aaliyah tributes in the past but hey if it get more people into her music I’m down for it. I can’t complain really if its genuine love.

    lol @ honesttruth (or lies)

Ciara will never ever make the impact Aaliyah did, period. Ciara has no classic songs or albums, never had a major hit without features, and she’s had more flop albums than sucessful ones. How was Aaliyah like Keri Hilson? Keri never even went platinum, or had half the sucess Aaliyah had. Aaliyah single handely started the “t*** movement” Being the first Teenage star in music to go platinum. Monica, brandy, Britney, and Xtina ALL followed suit. Aaliyah also put Timbaland and Missy on the map. So many other things I could type. Please do research boo.

  23. AdorableBaby April 10, 2012

    @ TheRealHonestTruth

Aaliyah will always be remember, she had alot going for herself. It was only just the begining starting at 15 not even in her 20s like the other singers you want to compare to her. She is her own person, no need to compare her to someone else. Its 10 years later and theres people still caring for her. Her legacy will forever live on. RIP One in A Million Aaliyah <3
