Her latest LP may be a ‘Teenage Dream’, but last night- at BBC’s ‘Let’s Dance For Sports Relief’, Katy Perry‘s vocals were nothing short of nightmarish, performing her new single ‘Part Of Me‘.

As the saying goes, “if you can’t sing live, you can’t sing at all”.
Indeed, in what can only be put down to lack of practice, Katy’s ‘live’ voice pales in comparison to that of her studio one, off key and breathless all at the same time.
Though her set wasn’t all bad, her so-so delivery made it too easy to forget how great ‘Part Of Me’ is, and made supporting her cause as a vocalist even harder to support.
Either way, with the cut set to secure a fresh #1, we’re sure singing on key is the last thing on her mind.

I’m not suprised. I knew that performance wise, she sucked as much as Riri. Why do u think they’re such good friends? Most of that performance was playback anyway, and I didn’t detect any flaws. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting much of a performance.

blame the producers that make the studio version sound that much different. they polish the fish to death. live is raw and this one’s just as good as is it. 😀
Uhhmmm, this was not that bad Grape Juice. I’m a professional singer and it is very difficult to run around, dance and sing at the same time. She is an entertainer and this performance was entertaining. That’s all.

Come on folks Katy was never at the top of list when comes to vocal ability so why act surprised? With artists of this caliber its take what you can get and onto the next one.

THE SAHDEEEE! OMG. IT WASNT THAT BAD! No it wasn’t great, she doesn’t really have a strong voice, but it wasn’t the worst think I’ve ever heard. I can see how she would sound great in the studio…Rihanna is still worse.

It is not exactly news to anyone that Katy Perry is a very variable live singer, like Rihanna. You do have to give them both points for attempting it rather than doing a Britney and lip synching all the time, still they could both do with some extensive vocal coaching. KP does seem a little worse than usual here though and I would imagine her fans would prefer she concentrating on singing rather than that half-assed thing she calls dancing ;o)
