“My biggest influences are my parents“, she explains when we first met, “Growing up in my household music was almost the most important part of our lives. Like, it woke us up in the morning. My mom loves to sing and my dad enjoys being the DJ and all of that shaped my sound.
A proud Cuban and Venezuelan, the last few years saw Veronica’s life change when she was discovered by Ciara producer Polow Da Don while working the underground circuit. A discovery he described as life changing, sharing:
“Working with Vega has been a life changing experience – Culturally, Musically, and Spiritually. With all that I know about music, I’ve been just as much a student during the process of this project. This project opens my eyes to how big the world really is”.
On her new single ‘El Papel‘, that cultural diversity is all too present- serving an exotic sass Vega says comes courtesy of her a background just as diverse. “My childhood was filled with all kinds of music music, dance, family, and people of different nationalities, so I’ve always been open culturally and you can hear it on Papel. In saying that, the other material has a lot of range-on my mids and ballads I’m more soulful and laid back.
As far as vocalists go, Vega says it’s ‘End Of Time’ singer Beyonce who holds a special place in her heart, citing her epic nature as the reason behind her success. “She’s paved the way for so many newcomers and still has so many beautiful things and qualities to offer.”
A collaboration between the pair? Who knows?…but one thing’s for certain and that’s Pitbull’s contribution to her forthcoming single ‘Wicked’– set to touchdown in the coming weeks.
