Sometimes, over here at TGJ HQ, we find ourselves faced with a question that we’ve never been able to truly answer…‘are we too harsh on Rihanna?‘.
Indeed, while we’re sure she’s too busy working the streets of ‘Instagram’ to care what we have to think of her, it’s a question we struggle to answer every time we put finger to keyboard to post on the star.
Well…that was until today.
For, in confirming our stance that the ‘We Found Love‘ star’s cause is nothing more than a long running ‘ha ha’ when stripped of the fashion, videos and Premium production staff, she has been forced to cancel a date on her ‘Diamonds World Tour‘ just one night after its Buffalo launch.
Details below…
After serving up its first showing at ‘The First Niagara Center’, Rihanna has cancelled its Boston showing after she reportedly caught laryngitis.
A statement released by Irving Azoff’s ‘Live Nation’ reads:
“Unfortunately, following her sold-out concert on Friday, Rihanna has contracted laryngitis and per doctor’sinstruction is unable to perform this evening.”
Set to continue the tour in Baltimore on Tuesday night, the ‘Where Have You Been’ shared the following on the cancellation:
“#BOSTON this is the hardest thing for me to deal with! I feel like we’ve been waiting on this day forever, and I’m hurt that I let you down. I hate disappointing people that never ever let me down!! I’m so embarrassed about this! Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!”
With many of her fans anticipating the show for well over five months now, here’s to a speedy recovery for the ROC star.
Unfortunately, after spending the last few months hopping in and out of clubs alongside Chris Brown, Twitter stalking Ciara and not rehearsing, it’s easy to see that her inability to take the strain of live singing is rooted not in her larynx, but lack of respect for her craft.
For, with the likes of Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce embarking on strenuous tours sans ‘voice’ related dramas, it’s pretty hard to sympathise with a singer who has never taken her voice that seriously anyway, perhaps oblivious to the dangers smoking poses to her already ailing pipes.
Seriously though, with the likes of Celine Dion and Tina Turner still able to deliver stellar live shows years after their initial peaks, one wonder what the future holds for Rihanna as a live act if she can’t hack any more than one night of live singing.
So, until we figure that answer to that question out, peep a number of real vocalists in action below!
