Mariah Carey is making many a power play these days.
American Idol may be nearing its end, however the diva extreme is ensuring platform’s perks (see: millions of viewers) works for her.
For, according to new reports, not only will she be performing on the show’s finale, she will also unwrap the video for her hotly anticipated new single.

Showbiz 411 editor and close friend of Carey, Roger Friedman, confirms that the Miguel assisted cut will see its Joseph Kahn directed video unveiled on Idol next Wednesday (May 8th). This will follow the song’s radio premiere and iTunes release two days prior (Monday May 6th).
And while rumors run rampant about show bosses looking to oust her, the evidence is starting to paint an altogether different picture. For, it looks like Idol producers and the singer’s team have paired up to use the clip’s debut as a means to combat what will be a head-to-head duel with rival show The Voice – which will be airing an additional episode the same Wednesday (the NBC show usually airs on Mondays).
As the saying goes; anything can happen. However, for now, it appears ol’ Mimi is in the show’s good books.
In other Mariah news, Friedman also reports that she has quietly dissolved her management agreement with friend and fellow Idol judge Randy Jackson. The pair, who remain the closest of friends, blamed the busyness of both of their schedules for the parting.
{Side note: It always tripped me out how so few people acknowledged the fact Randy Jackson managed her during the Nicki fiasco. Then again, it’s smart they played it down as it would have added an extra layer of “awkward” given that all three sit on the judging panel together}
Mother of two Mimi is now managed by mega-firm Red Light, who by the looks of things have done a stellar job thus far (see: GMA Summer Concert Series, Idol premiere/performances, and more). Look out for her as yet untiled LP sometime between June and July.
I have to say that Mariah and her team are pulling out ALL the stops to unveil this new single! Her label is already working the hell out of radio before the song has even premiered. THIS is how you launch a project!!! She has her fans so amped; I can’t wait to hear the song and see the video.

Bad news for me is one source says the song is 3 minutes 3 seconds long while another source says 3minutes 23seconds,both to me are too short especially for a duet or a feature track…but i acknowledge her management for putting an amazing promo so far…i’ve also heard her new album will have NO HIP-HOP.

Very proud of the way Mariah has handled herself through all the idol rumors because I guess she always knew that in the end the truth would be revealed.
Idol never intended to replace her and with Nicki Minaj’s latest twitter war with Access Hollywood and the media team backstage at idol, it is clear that she is the one that will be replaced next year and NOT Carey!
I also find it interesting that this blog has ignored the war of words between Minaj and Access Hollywood staff that even had Nicki’s fans sending death threats their way but thats the way this blog operates. She is beyond unprofessional, unclassy and her career will feel this because even though her fans are all hype, the rest of the world is NOT impressed.

Mariah Negotiating For Big Idol Finale Performance
It’s not completely a done deal, but I’m told this will happen: Mariah Carey will perform on the American Idol finale on May 16th. She will sing her brand new single called “#Beautiful.” (That’s hashtag, if you were wondering.) I told you last night exclusively that Mariah’s video of “#Beautiful” will debut on this Wednesday’s Idol.
One thing still not certain: who will sing it with her? Miguel, who performs the duet on the single, is on tour and may not be able to do it. He’s got to be in Liverpool, England two days later to open for Alicia Keys. Sources say something very cool is in the works. (Nick Cannon, maybe? Nicki Minaj? Stay tuned.)
It does seem like with falling ratings and re-considerations, Mariah and Idol are making up instead of breaking up. Isn’t that swell? I do hope when she performs “#Beautiful” on Idol, Mariah sings a slightly longer version than the one being released this Monday to radio stations at 7am. It’s a great song and deserves a big finale. Carey will jump from the Idol finale to a special appearance on Good Morning America just eight days later on May 24th.
Did I tell you yesterday that “#Beautiful” reminds me of “Dreamlover,” Mariah’s 1993 smash? It’s got that feel. It’s also got a cool retro vibe. There’s some static in the background and it sounds like a record – a 45 rpm record- is playing.
PS The two hour Idol finale will feature lots of the show’s past participants. Also, I’ve heard Carly Rae Jepsen will call them, maybe.

Can´t believe we are getting the song on Monday and the video two days later. That sounds like good promo without the typical and constant delays most artists suffer
The song being 3 minutes long makes sense. We Belong Together was also 3 minutes long. It´s perfect for radio (once radio decides to play it of course). Miguel songs are usually short too, but so damn great.
And yes, it sounds like it could be a nice midtempo, a little bit accoustic, very different from her, and with not many especial vocal moments. Just a nice sound to kill the charts effortlessly. Probably the rest of the album will have bigger vocal moments (this is all speculation of course lol)
It will be released on Itunes on monday as well…i hope between now and monday they won’t kill the excitement with some 30 second snippet (I HATE SNIPPETS)…Those who’ve heard the song say it has an unusual melody and soulful,sensual at the same time…i was against a very short song but i realized that’s what works for radio & MIMI wants to slaaaaaaaay this time 4real
