Now available to purchase on Amazon, the Sia-penned anthem – which features in Bey’s mega-grossing movie ‘Epic’, can now be heard in high quality.
Like much of the diva’s new material, the roll-out of ‘Rise’ was wrapped in quite the conundrum as it was initially omitted from the film’s soundtrack — despite being “the” song used to promote it.

i can tolerate burning in the sun but grown woman is pretty annoying, i had to pull my headphones off my ears because of the messy instrusmental, too much going on but nothing actually happening and standing on the sun is just another medicore song, album filler at best not a hit potential. she needs a MONSTER SMASH to really set off this era or it’s a 4closure all over again.

I had a funny moment listening to this song.., firstly I’ll say that I generally really like it and Beyonce sounds great on it. I like the melody and the laid back flow of it mostly and also that unusually Beyonce doesn’t completely decimate the track with an over-use of power so it retains its mellow vibe…, the bridge leading into the chorus though, I don’t know if it’s my ears but it sounds really off timing-wise. Anyway, the funny moment occurred in the second verse of the song, the ‘they’ll burn you at the stake if you…’ line. I couldn’t help but think it related quite significantly to Beyonce herself.
My main critique of Beyonce since she went solo has been the lack of lyrical honesty and also the contrived specificity of lyrics that pertain to things that are quite obviously not of her life, however if she can finally start to include at least a smidgen of ‘Brandy-esque’ emotional truth into the upcoming project, I think her detractors (i.e. people like myself who love her talent, stagemanship and beauty etc. but loathe her general lack of musical sophistication and trite lyrics) may start to enjoy her output again. I hope that’s the case cos believe it or not I used to love her …and like a cousin that’s fallen into a life of vice I forever hold out hope that one day she’ll come good again.
