Despite spawning many a musical mishap, little can take away from JLS‘ impact on the UK’s Pop scene during their short but sweet time at the top.
Now, after losing the bulk of their audience to rival group One Direction, the now inactive JLS saw their lead singer Aston Merrygold take to Balearic Island, with long time pal / Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.
Lighting up while catching a tan at the ‘Ocean Beach Club‘, the vocalist was snapped in the company of friends and fans one year after Smith picked up a silver medal at last year’s Olympics, and months after JLS announced their demise here.

While there’s been no word of a solo Aston album, we can’t wait to hear whatever cooks up.
For, as long as he stays away from EDM and rebrands himself as a contemporary act with mature appeal, there’s no reason he couldn’t enjoy the international notoriety JLS missed out on.
As far fetched as this may sound, Aston- if partnered with the right producers, writers and management could easily slide into the very lane that sees him use his aesthetic to his advantage on a PR tip, but cultivate a serious and loyal following with an album loaded with infectious mid tempos.

For Aston to truly pop on a global scale, his ascent needs to seem authentic and- on all fronts- see him put tween thrilling choreography and reposition himself as a laddish boy next door, who just so happens to be a credible musician.

I get that this is a Urban Music Blog but Sam also likes POP Artist like Gaga & Katy Perry so way does he want every black artist to make R&B but is always ok with white artists making EDM or Pop unless your Nicki then he’ll love Starships & Supper Bass. Lol Aston need to keep making Pop music like he’s been doing because he’s a Pop/EDM artist.

This was a nice read Sam. I like the ideas but I don’t think Aston wants to be that kind of performer even though I see what you mean. The thing is, because he can dance I think he should make songs that let him do that but time will tell. BTW, I didn’t even know The Frisk had fans.
