The singer, who revealed that she would not be able to re-join her former bandmates due to prior and on-going commitments, unwrapped the video for new single ‘Gold Mine’ today on VEVO.
Now independent on a number of fronts, does Ms. Woods have what it takes to re-capture the limelight? You be the judge after the jump….
Granted some will be quick to slam prior to actually listening, we’re pleasantly surprised by this.
Yes, it doesn’t posit anything new nor fresh sonically, yet both the song and video are solid for an artist on an independent hustle and who doesn’t (yet) have access to the best . Of course, given that the DK ladies are pushing both the group and solo endeavours in tandem, we’re not why D.Woods couldn’t join them in doing the same. We guess that’s an answer only the women know.

Love D Woods and this song but this video is not the business. It’s not the worst video she’s ever made but it’s very messy. She should link up with a stylist for sure. Wish her the best of luck. I’m curious as to what her sound will be. Her harmonies on this were nice. There were some off moments though so she needs to work with a vocal producer too. I respect her for continuing to grind despite being ignored by Danity Kane.

I will give it to her that this doesn’t sound like ANYTHING else anyone is putting out right now so kudos to that…but she needs to realize what the other group members realized…people will be quicker to invest in DANITY KANE than any one of their names alone (minus Dawn maybe). Why would she not take advantage of that?
Last time i checked the same sales Dawn had on her ep was the same that Aubrey did on hers. and this was without promo and one weeks notice. So the only one i think people really check for is Aubrey.

I think that sometimes you just gotta keep moving forward. they have all been single for so long and seem to be using this opportunity for publicity and money. i commend Dwoods for keeping her grind instead of running back to the easy option. It would be like (although more anticipated) LeToya Luckett running back to Destiny’s Child as soon a s the going got tough.

I will give you that she was the Melody of DK… everyone has a special voice and hers was that of a broadway voicalist range and character that does all the filling. It worked, but never get it twisted she was never looked at as the front person, maybe thats why she didn’t come back, maybe thats why she started DRAMA to cause ish to go down.
B+ for effort, but so-so isn’t going to cut it for an indie artist w/o a large promo budget. To succeed as an indie, it’s got to be THE song and video, something both instantly catchy and interesting.
