Days before she’s set to wow audiences in Lifetime‘s ‘Christmas in the City’, R&B Queen Ashanti continues on in her bid for independent success with ‘I Got It’, featuring Rick Ross!
Though it does make for a ‘nice’ listen, the number lacks the ‘premium’ feel that once saw the performer give Beyonce a run for her money (see summer of 2003).
Instead, what Ashanti offers up is mix tape worthy material, far beneath than act who once stood at the forefront of her genre and – for a short but sweet time- Pop culture.

Ashanti writes her own songs, gets in the studio work with the producer to get it right and then works with the other artist featured to smash it out. Nah YOU should stop trolling… I am a huge Ashanti Fan. I support her to the death. I was meaning that this site makes it seem like Ashanti’s career ended in 2003 and that she hasnt put out anything great since then and beyonce has. In no way do I think Beyonce has been putting out premium music (look at Diva, Bow Down) she may hit and misses but Ashanti has never been given the praise for her amazing vocal improvement or her song writing skills. Ashanti has been consistence but since she hasnt been putting out what is current in music then people think she is irrelevant. Ashanti has dabbled in different styles of music but she always stuck with what is her style. a sweet voice over a heavy hip hop beat. People need to remember she is doing this independently and from her passion and that is what I love from her

What I’ve learned to do is not even read TGJ reviews or comments BEFORE listening to anything cause I like Ashanti and I think she slayed the track. Is it her best? No, but this is really good compared to what’s she’s put out lately and a nice R&B track overall. I need to plug in my speakers to really hear how this sounds cause I’m hoping it comes harder than it sounds on my laptop. But again, Ashanti’s vocal were good on this track! Well done Ashanti! Now don’t let this momentum die, keep promoting

This is good but not the essential come back hit Asanti needs. Stylistically, it was on point and the production suited her perfectly.
