Report: Beyonce’s First Two New Singles Revealed

Published: Friday 13th Dec 2013 by Rashad

Before the reveal of Beyonce’s self-titled fifth album, the idea of putting an album out before its singles would be indeed a practice of putting ‘the cart before the horse’.

Well, after such notion was parked when the ‘Partition’ performer placed her newest project into the stratosphere with its unexpected debut prior to release of any supporting material, now the songstress is ready to share which songs will kick off the album’s promotional campaign.

With a bevy of options including numbers with appearances from the likes of Jay Z, Drake, and Frank Ocean, tuck in below to see which two will impact radio in the coming week.

They might surprise you…

‘Blow’ & ‘Drunk In Love (ft. Jay Z)’

Via Billboard:

‘Starting next week, it will be two – the Pharrell Williams-produced “Blow” at Top 40, and the Jay Z-assisted “Drunk In Love” at R&B/Hip Hop, according to multiple sources who confirmed plans to Billboard. “XO,” a rousing ballad penned by Ryan Tedder and The-Dream, will follow later in 2014 as the second single at Top 40.’

Very good choices Lady Carter! We are already seeing this revolutionary promo machine’s wheels a-rolling and look forward to the live performances that will accompany the singles’ releases.

  8. Bey Advocate December 13, 2013

Love every song but bittcchhh Partition is the ultimate slayage

  9. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

Oh I like those songs. I don’t think she should release two singles at once tho. Because usually fans only but one single at a time and realeasing two might make them choose. But SLAY BEY

  10. SLAY_HIVE December 13, 2013

Yass Queen. Great choices. I’m loving the album. Tipsy and getting my life! I was not expecting this slayage today!!!
    XOXOXOXOXO 😉

  11. rihanna is getting bigger and beyonce is decreasing. December 13, 2013

LOL LOL no skin off rih’s nose. This is where RIH talents lie..the art of picking a single/

THERE NO HITS ON THIS LP OR BREAKOUT VIDEOS, ALL the videos look like EGO,BABY BOY OR 1+1. I like drunk on love; I sorta like blow, but, they are not hits. NO AMERICAN POP RADIO HITS. I would say go with XO, cos that is the best of bad bunch. XO IS WILL MAYBE, GOT TOP 20 AND FIZZLE OUT.

Sam, u dont live in the USA. POP radio is hard. It is racist, sexiest, agist and just weird. None of these songs can compete with what is being played on radio now and that includes RIH/ EM. It will be interesting to see how long this LP can slay.

GAGA has pop radio hits ready. SHE HAS TO DROP GUY, RADIO WILL EAT IT UP LIKE SUSHI. SEXX dreams and Gyspy can round up the ERA. IMO, GAGA SHOULD OF LEAF WITH GUY, half the backlash and poor sales would not have happened if she done that. G.U.Y IS READY TO GO NUMBER 1 IN THE USA. Bey does not have that.

SHAKIRA AND RIH drop on JAN 14TH, so their single will go to radio, maybe next week or so, let see how BEYONCE STACKS AGAINST THEM

  12. Molly December 13, 2013

Not really feeling blow which she change it for Xo or Mine *sigh*

@Slay_Hive hey sis how you feeling?

  13. rihanna is getting bigger and beyonce is decreasing. December 13, 2013

THE THING WITH USA POP RADIO IS THEY LOVE RIH. ON KISS, THEY PLAY A RIH SONG EVERY HOUR, EVERY DAY. EVEN SONG FROM 2008. SO BEY WILL HAVE TO COMPETE WITH RIH OLD SONGS LIKE SNM OR DIAMONDS, COS out here in LA, they play them daily. XO is not as good or strong as SNM OR DIAMONDS.

  14. Fran December 13, 2013

I’m glad she’s picking quality songs that reflect the great quality of the album

  15. Fran December 13, 2013

Beyonces past all that s***, as you can see she can drop an album whenever she feels like it without a massive smash lead single and people will still rush to buy it faster than people who do.

  16. Check Your Lipstick Before You Come & Talk To Me December 13, 2013

Great choices – you can’t hate on how this is all panning out, whether you are a Bey fan or not. No one else could pull this off.

  17. KenGalloIV December 13, 2013

“Beyonce” is already number one in 94 countries!!!! Number one chick she don’t need no hype

  18. rihanna is getting bigger and beyonce is decreasing. December 13, 2013

bey will got to radio the same time as rih and SHAKIRA. This will be a better indicator of who will win the war between RIH AND BEY. ALL THIS NUMBER 1 IN 90 COUNTRIES MEAN S***. IT COMES DOWN TO AIRPLAY.

iTunes is a powerful retailer in the us and UK but outside of the Anglo Saxon world, it is really NOTHING. Most of those countries she is topping will probably come up with 10-15 sales for the whole week. As only western expat in those countries buy music through iTunes. Her worldwide numbers will be rough.

  19. fatusankoh December 13, 2013

Queen bey thank you for giving us life I love thetwo single choice all the song in the album are so good I was so happy to buy copy I almost forget my password I was shaking so hard thank god I got it now this is why I love and support bey she is talented hard worker god continue to bless proteict her and her family for life long happy life more success in she do

  20. rihanna is getting bigger and beyonce is decreasing. December 13, 2013

BEYONCE: What happens AFTER Week #1 ????
I see a lot of people already calling this album a “game changing success” and others “Another Artpop”. I feel like all this talk is wayyyy premature and to the people talking about how much she s slaying the competition, they better remember the chart run of MDNA & Yeezus. It s not easy to maintain chart success without real radio support.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK WEEK #2 AND ON WILL LOOK LIKE!

    PROS:
1- Beyonce s public skew older than most pop girls. They buy more physical copies so her album might have a longer life with the actual release of a physical copy.
2- Beyonce avoided the dreaded leaks and weeks of illegal downloads so there is more of a potential buying public out there for her.
3- A lot of people in the general public still don’t know she has an album out so they might come out to get it the later week.
4- Her surprise strategy created more free press than anything I have ever seeb. She was on ever news show in loop. And I m talking CNBC not entertainment tonight. She is being compare to Netflix and Apple for her futurist outlook.
5- the 2 biggest shopping weeks of the year are right around the corner.

    CONS:
1- Even her biggest fans must admit that this album is not very radio friendly. And without radio chart longevity is almost impossible for pop and r&b artist.
2- Again the fact that a lot of people in the GP didnt know about the realese could also work against her. By the time they know, it might not be new anymore and they might lose interest.
3- The fact that she released all the videos at once will make it hard for her to push the album in the future as there is nothing left for people to anticipate. It s basically as if she has 14 singles already released.
4- iTunes is a powerful retailer in the us and UK but outside of the Anglo Saxon world, it is really NOTHING. Most of those countries she is topping will probably come up with 10-15 sales for the whole week. As only western expat in those countries buy music through iTunes. Her worldwide numbers will be rough.

SO AFTER THIS IN DEPTH ANALYSIS , DO YOU THINK THIS ALBUM IS MORE OR LESS LIKELY TO HAVE LEGS…

    And again nothing is certain.
Please! No angry stanning. Just thoughtful opinions are expected.

  22. Lydia December 13, 2013

    Love these choices.

  23. KenGalloIV December 13, 2013

Her album is number ONE in 94 countries!!!!! And has a score of 85 on metacritic I’d rather have those figures than worry about a damn single at this point beyonce knows exactly what she’s doing she obviously needs no hype

  24. Lydia December 13, 2013

94 countries? Wow. All because she is Beyoncé. And they want deny her of her impact.

  25. SLAY_HIVE December 13, 2013

Hey molly, im feeling great honey. It’s pay day, Motha released her album(finally). Kii how are you?

    @Sybil
Give it a rest already, damn. Youve been seething all day kiii Go watch the wack ass monster teaser

  26. Lydia December 13, 2013

85 on metacritic? BEYONCE IS TRUELY SLAYING. I know a certain person loves its metacritic.

  27. rih rox((U mad Bro?)) December 13, 2013

Non of the songs are HITs and they all sound the same. It’s old and dated…a leftover from 4lop.

She’s already burning herself out. Bad decision to release everything at once. There will be nothing left….this $hit is already about to fizzle out.

  28. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

The album has good songs , but I can’t see any of them being a pop smash hit

  29. Lydia December 13, 2013

Nothing left? She has part 2 as well.. Continue to seethe.

  30. RICHIE_RICH December 13, 2013

Yessssss I love blow……@molly you better get into BLOW again baby.

She has slayyyyyyed my life all damn day. This is how you end the yr with a BANG
    #BOWDOWN

  31. Lydia December 13, 2013

Beyonce aint bothered about her singles she wants her album to slay as a body of work. Its obvious. Which it is, Rihanna fans shut up its way more critically acclaimed than any Rihanna album already.

  32. My Forehead Tho December 13, 2013

Have missed feelings about ‘Blow’ being the lead single. WHile it will recieve heavy rotation on the radio, idk how parents might take to it. Imagine kids singing “Keep me cummming, keep me going” “Can you eat my skittles it’s the sweetest in the middle” “Turn that cherry out”around the house?

‘Drunk in Love’ will get a top ten chart regardless. The hook is too good not to.

  33. Love Life December 13, 2013

She’s a grown woman, she can do whatever she wants

  34. Molly December 13, 2013

@Slay_Hive Lmao i know b**** don surprised the hell out of all of us i was wondering where you were last night im like this b**** must be sleep over here missing out on this slayage.

  35. NICKI MINAJ December 13, 2013

I was expecting XO and Mine tbh

  36. Mark111 December 13, 2013

XO should’ve been the first pop single. I can’t see Blow doing much.

  37. Molly December 13, 2013

@Richie_Rich aaaah ill try its not that i dislike the song but it really doesn’t strike me as a single. Hope she makes XO a single tho like im really in love with that song.

  38. Molly December 13, 2013

Uhm she better be performing at the Grammys in January aswell.

  39. josh December 13, 2013

I want XO!!!! im so happy we have a new album though. Shes the most amazing chick ever.

  40. whocares December 13, 2013

Beyonce is funny. The stans are only for the wratched stuff. i don’t know why release everything. no body cares about singles when they have the whole album and all the videos already. i think releasing the whole thing was a very good idea but i guess her stans can feed off these crumbs for a long while.

  41. whocares December 13, 2013

was not a good idea i mean

  42. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

It should have been XO and Mine.

  43. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

“The fact that she released all the videos at once will make it hard for her to push the album in the future as there is nothing left for people to anticipate. It s basically as if she has 14 singles already released.”

Exactly she basically killed the longevity by real song all of the videos at once

  44. Thane December 13, 2013

Looooopve the way you think! Very well put…. I think now we have live performances to look for…. She will prob do what Kelly did and promote many SONGSA TO SELL THE ALBUM as oppose to only singles…. With the album being released on dec 21 I believe she willmdo well the whole month…the key is for radio to supports her now which I think is likely. Drunk in love will be a big seller still questioning choosing of blows before xo….

  45. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

Exactly she basically killed the longevity by real song all of the videos at once

There might be a point here, female artists don’t sell like they used to nowadays.

P!nk reached the 5 million mark and has about just stagnated, Bruno Mars is at around 4.5 million and just sold another 60K albums this week.

And let’s not even mention JUDASa TimberFLOP who all but slayed all throughout the year with a boring ass LOCALperience album.

Male artists seem to have better logevity than female artists it seems.

  46. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

“She will prob do what Kelly did”

I hope you don’t mean Kelly Rowland, Kelly sits around all day and counts her light bulbs. That woman doesn’t know what hard work is.

  47. Mark111 December 13, 2013

Funny how the HIVE been waiting for so long, yet they have Rihanna in their mouths. Umm, Rihanna had a great year with an album that came out last year. Get at those Pop b****** that just released albums the last few months. Who’s talking about Britney right now? Where’s Gaga? Katy and Miley done pretty well so far.

Instead of Black people cheering that two black women are killing these h***, they rather put them in a fight. A fight that’s not needed. So big ups to both Rih AND Bey for repping.

Oh and the “he/she didn’t promote it, they sold off their name” is out the f****** door for your fave flopping. And the “She/he needs promo” is out as well. Either people are into you or they’re not.

  48. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

“Funny how the HIVE been waiting for so long, yet they have Rihanna in their mouths.”

@Mark111, it is HIVE LOGIC 101, cannot praise Beyonce’s achievements without bringing another artist down. It’s what they are known for and what they do.

  49. Love Life December 13, 2013

Girl Bye! I guess you’re gonna just scroll past the Rihanna stans doing the MOST in here and yall wondering why the Hive shade her? Have a seat.

  50. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

I feel, that by realeasing all the videos, she basically laid all her cards down on the table, and once it comes time to release more singles people won’t be interested because they’ve already seen/brought what she has to offer

  51. Love Life December 13, 2013

Rihanna stans need to take what they dish out.

  52. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

“Oh and the “he/she didn’t promote it, they sold off their name” is out the f****** door for your fave flopping. And the “She/he needs promo” is out as well.”

Ooop you shady b****. why don’t you just mention the artist you’re directing that comment to.

  53. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

It’s usually a Hive member that starts the Stan war

  54. Love Life December 13, 2013

Beyonce is bigger than a single. Beyonce has created a movement,” – Reggie Rouse, VP of urban programming at CBS Radio

  55. Love Life December 13, 2013

@Navy Commander no its really not.

  56. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

Actually Navy Commander is right, it’s ALWAYS a Beyonce stan starting s***.

  57. Love Life December 13, 2013

You know thats a lie, this post is a perfect example

  58. Mark111 December 13, 2013

    @LoveBird

It’s sad, everytime Rihanna does something, the HIVE are the MAIN ones saying she doesn’t deserve it, she’s made, they tell her what to do. But when it’s Beyonce, oh oh oh oh, she’s original, she wrote ALL her songs. They believe whatever she feeds them.

So when Rihanna wins an Icon award, it’s “oh, all these other singers should’ve gotten it before her”, but when Beyonce won that Millennium award, “Yasssss, she slayed. Rihanna could never”. lol

I never understood the hate, they’re not peers nor the same genre. They’re hyped off an album, but fails to realized who’s on top of that Billboard Hot 100 chart for the 13th time.

  59. Love Life December 13, 2013

Anyway let me get back into the slayage of this album for 100th time just don’t expect the Hive to not clap back when your friends fans are running rampant in a Beyonce post. Looks like Sybil gave up the fingers must be bleeding from that day of essay writing.

  60. Mark111 December 13, 2013

BYW, I bought Bey’s album and I like it. I bought all of Bey, Rih, Ciara (I’m one of the few) and Ak. Who said you can only listen and like just one? I don’t recall this happening to Janet, Whitney, MC, TLC, Aaliyah, Brandy or Monica back in the 90’s.

  61. XXX December 13, 2013

Mark stop chatting s*** like really, the Hive were praising Rihanna when she got that icon award.

Dont act like the navy does not DOWN Beyonce just as much if not more. Both can be as bad as eachother.

  62. Lovebird (LOUDER – 04.03.14) December 13, 2013

    @Mark111

There was no Twitter/Facebook/Blogs in the 90s.

    Best believe if this was the 90s, with the above, it would be;

    Mariah fans VS Whitney fans
Janet fans reading Aaliyah for the gods
    Brandy fans vs Monica fans
    Madonna fans vs EVERYBODY

Those female artists in the 90s got lucky.

It is cute to see that even when the Navy have praised Beyonce’s album as fantastic (I bought my digital copy too), the hive still mention Rihanna’s name.

They have been pressed ever since Good Girl Gone Bad dropped, it’s like they never recovered from that.

  63. XXX December 13, 2013

Anyway I love blow but I didn’t see it as the first single, more XO.

  64. Rosie December 13, 2013

80K in the first three hours, first week predictions of 200K after just three days and no sales outside of iTunes, a tour that will probably top $200 million, a critical acclaim (85 on Metacritic), and a flawless album. I might stan for Bey after this.

  65. Jamie December 13, 2013

Why can’t the hive and navy both just stfu and enjoy the music god damn.

  66. Jamie December 13, 2013

Anyways was really hoping for XO to be the lead single, but im happy with Drunk in love being one.

  67. Nicki Is Queen Other B****** Take A Seat> December 13, 2013

i might be a shady bi.tch but after listening to blow and partition.. my as.s is gonna take a seat lmao

  68. UnviersalChic December 13, 2013

The hive is still mad at how all the other stan bases came at B during “4” but at the end of the day even the biggest critics gave her a standing ovation for this album and are wishing success on it so let it GO. There is no need to throw anything in anybodies face cause B did it for us with the pure quality of her work alone and plus Rihanna is doing her own thing as well. Lets praise the fact that this b**** is about to score her 5th #1 consecutive album and she is about to be the first black female to do it. Lets get into everybody loving and showing respect for the album. Let’s get into the praise it is getting at all angles from critics and fans alike. Let’s celebrate. I’m so proud at how a lot of the stan bases are putting their stan card down and just enjoying the music. It shows maturity so thank you all for supporting and buying the album xo

  69. NAVY COMMANDER December 13, 2013

Yes @MARK they always downfall rihanna but when the navy does the same we are hating and pressed. They expect us it be happy for bey when she does something but when rih does something it’s nothing but hate from the hive.

And nice to see I have a Stan @love life kii

  70. Kisses Down Low December 13, 2013

This album is giving me SO MUCH LIFE! Can the Navy stop crying about who started s*** already yall are just as bad and enjoy the music. #NowPlaying: Rocket

  71. Kisses Down Low December 13, 2013

Im very proud of you Bey for this

  72. musiclover December 13, 2013

@lovebird what songs are u feeling on this album….love youre not being biased btw

  73. Baby I December 13, 2013

Tina Turner’s hologram still taking other unknown artists ideas for music videos huh? SMH!

Beyonce – SuperPower (Music Video) a copy of Anjulie – Stand Behind The Music (Music Video)

  74. SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) December 13, 2013

I’ll die if she releases a million flop singles like the last era. 🙁
I’m awaiting those third week sales figures.

  75. KING B December 13, 2013

im actually happy to see blow release in top 40 so that it wont overshadow Drunk on love wich will probably be her first hit of this album in france they played drunk on love all day tdy

  76. Barb B**** December 13, 2013

Go worry about Art of Letting Go of my sales and stop being negative towards Beyonce.

  77. Barb B**** December 13, 2013

    XO

  78. quetta December 14, 2013

@mark111 you are not a very good observer if you think the hive is starting with the navy. So untrue and if anything the hive can congratulate rih on her accomplishments but the same can’t be said about the navy.

  79. RoyalKev December 14, 2013

I’m not mad at that! Blow is one of the BEST videos in the collection. I just wanted DIL to be released solo (after the first 2 singles). That song is everything!!! I was actually hoping for Be to start with XO and Partition.

  80. Lana Del Bey December 14, 2013

Firstly your name suggests you’d like nothing more than a stan war but I will continue to address you in a neutral manner. though a lot of what you said is true beyonce has completly taken the high road with this one, though I believe the pr and marketing of this album has been amazing and the single choices are good blow- modern funky hipster vibzy and Drunk- a perfect modern ratchet song that will chart amazingly on the r&b and hip hop charts but however I agree there are not many ‘smash’ hits on the album but it’s a solid piece of work that has integrity which will no doubt recieve critical acclaim, even If the songs don’t chart like I said she took the high road on this one and ultimately if this album isn’t seen as a ‘commercial’ success it will go down as one of beyonce’s alternative tradition ain’t album with acclaim a plenty. ALTHOUGH we know this b**** go’n sell 5mill worldwide ATLEAST.

  81. FutureCIARA December 14, 2013

No shade, I will stan for this cunnt if she decides to make #PARTITION a single……

OMG that will destroy the R&B charts!!! I can see that topping charts for MONTHS!!!! not weeks!

  82. JazThatBoi December 14, 2013

Well she did that when she released If I were a boy and single ladies at the same time. Overall it worked out. I just see it as extra promo

  83. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 14, 2013

To those saying there’s no longevity to her album because she released all the videos at once. Um, you can’t watch ANY of the videos without PURCHASE. So if you wan’t to see it in its entirety, you gotta buy it. She’s going to sell like crazy because of that PLUS this is PART ONE! Beyonce looks at the long haul, not just this album era. She knows what she’s doing, her CAREER has longevity.

  84. HOTSTUFF December 14, 2013

I have to admit i can’t stand the HlV coming for Rihanna but Beyonce’s best songs on that album are Blow, Drunk in Love, XO. The Visual for Blow is wonderful.

  85. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 14, 2013

They are The Most “radio-Friendly” songs in This album.

“Blow” is The Classic Safe bey single, and “Drunk in love” will be eaten by Local Urban Radios.

Good Picks, No #1’s off This album Though.

Loved The Visuals of “Haunted”, “Ghost” and “Blow” so Madonna-esque. 😀

She’s Slightly on The right Direction, but she pushed The S** Envelop Too far for the GP, Will hurt. 😕

  86. h2o December 14, 2013

    F****** YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s winter time, and “Blow” is like a big cup of hot chocolate! Leave “XO” for spring/summer.

“Drunk in Love” is a smart choice for urban release too …

I hope they do good chart-wise and Bey stays as smart as she is now for the whole era.

Meanwhile, “Beyonce” is #1 in 99 countries. Yes, NINETY NINE! And so deserving, the album and videos are f****** H-E-A-V-E-N!

  87. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 14, 2013

    @Enough Onlika:

I Watched All 17 Videos in Facebook, we’re in 2013, not in 1900, Even repeated some Cuz they were great. “Haunted”.

just drop a hashtag with the name of anything and Enjoy. POP!!!

and lol, Don’t come for The #1 Smash Hit that is “The monster”, Bey can enjoy her buzz for now, no worries, but don’t feel your p****** now that you have an album and Come for Riri. 😀

  88. *ℙᏫℙ ℝᏫᎩAℒᎿᎩ* December 14, 2013

Can the Hive EVER enjoy Beyonce’s Offerings without Bringing other artists Down?

No one’s coming for Riri anywhere anytime, but ON THIS POST, there’s no reason for a certain iron-pressed troll (Sybil) to post updates about Rihanna and her upcoming projects when it’s completely off topic.

You can’t be insulting Beyonce all day all night with every breath she takes, use Rihanna’s name for flamebait on a Beyonce thread and expect the hive to stay cool.

@PopRoyalty Call me when Rih drops an album with no promo and see if she can get a #1….for the second time…(1 out of 7).

@H2) Exactly! The only reason I even mention Rihanna is because of that psychopath. Who cares about her covering Vogue?? OH wow, she’s n*** again…shocking…

she officially hit number 1 on itunes in 100 countries. #QUEENB

As a die hard Beyonce fan/Stan I was fiercely disappointed in this album. As a woman who is usually a trend setter musically the sound was done before. Yes there are standout tracks but as a complete body of work I didn’t get it. If this was a mixtape or Rihanna or parts of a Rita Ora album it would’ve been what it was, but as a Beyonce album it doesn’t work and her vocals don’t suit some of the songs. I hope some of these tracks don’t make her tour.

I wanted XO and Pretty Hurts. But Blow and drunk in love slay everything too. Great choices bey. But are y’all really gonna sleep on flawless? That song slays! @Mark111 the hive doesn’t always start s***. I hope you read that other thread where that Slayriah w**** was the one shading the hell out of bey trying to see how far we can go

  94. BEYHIVE_MINAJ December 14, 2013

@H2O *standing ovation* people always troll beyonce on posts of her slaying(eg. Sybil,Slayriah) and when the hive fights back, everyone points their fingers at the hive

  95. Brazilian Beyoncé!!! December 14, 2013

I love Yonce!! I hope she releases it as a single$

  96. NEWYORK December 14, 2013

excellent analysis…agree with everything. She did push the envelope off the table, but the songs are hot. Blow will be a hit…mite take awhile. DIL will slay on rb charts. Good album, and im not even a fan, i just think she is a wonderful singer and entertainer

  97. Beyond Man December 14, 2013

Should have been Pretty Hurts and Flawless.

  98. lovebey December 14, 2013

I do agree with you and i love beyonce…. Rihanna is selling singles and that’s the way of the new world. I do feel like beyonce has a good marketing thing with this album but i do feel it will be short lived because she has nothing to market the singles with. Let’s not forget, pepsi is marketing this so there may be some other marketing scheme up her sleeve. I do think her first two singlea, XO and haunted may do well. Blow will do well because it’s a “funky” and left field pop hit like “blurred lines” and plus it’s being released nearly the same time as the video, which is pretty cool. “XO” is a big stadium hit, and the “call and response” effect does well on radio. It also has a “California Girls” kind of summertime feel to it, which sells very well in the U.S., Canada and Europe if it was released as the first single it would have been massive. Haunted may do well because it’s a dance track that reminiscent of madonna’s biggest 90’s dance tracks or beyonce’s sweet dreams. Lastly, i hope she releases “jealous” this song is the most beyonce to me, very irreplaceable” not in terms of message but as far as “neck rolling sass” that drives women buyers crazy

I love “Drunk in Love.” Perfect choice for the first urban single. “blow” is a great song, but I think it would be better released during the summer. It’s the perfect track. But no biggie. 2014 will be the year of Beyonce.

    Drunk is fine.

I think Pretty Hurts has such a pop culture message and meaning behind it that it should be a pop released single for sure.

Blow is cute and fun though.

XO defo a single for sure & Rocket for R&B

  101. Anne December 15, 2013

I think this post is partly incorrect. According to HDD the first two singles are XO and Drunk in Love, not Blow.
