A philanthropic Perry below…

After agreeing to promote the North American leg of the singer’s ‘Prismatic World Tour‘, ‘Staples’ will now donate $1 million to DonorsChoose.org, a charity that’s impacted 11 million students by helping to fund more than 450,000 classroom projects for teachers.

Billboard shares:

“‘Make Roar Happen’ builds on Staples’ commitment to teachers in a new and engaging way,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vice president, North American stores and online marketing for Staples. “With music that inspires people worldwide, Katy Perry is a powerful voice to encourage people to ‘Roar’ and recognize teachers for their impact both inside and outside the classroom. Our $1 million donation will help teachers supply their classrooms just in time for back to school.”

Added Perry: “I’m glad to partner with Staples on my Prismatic World Tour to raise awareness and funds for DonorsChoose.org, and to remind my fans that a small gesture can make a large impact on the very basic materials classrooms need for teachers to help students reach their full potential.”

In response to Perry’s efforts, ‘Donate’ explain:

We so appreciate the tremendous support from Staples, its loyal customers, and Katy Perry, helping teachers and students across the country. The hard work and dedication teachers provide should not come at their own expense. The ‘Make Roar Happen’ campaign is an incredible vehicle to help fulfill the classroom dreams of teachers and students.”

The born this way foundation is a councilling program, not a donor organisation or charity

What I love about Katy’s charity efforts is that they are always genuine and not self-seeking. She did a similar charity event for the California Dreams Tour. Good for her!
