Robin Thicke’s ‘Paula’ Sales Prediction Revised…Down

Paula Patton isn’t the only thing that’s left Robin Thicke of late. It seems public interest has too. For, after the crooner’s ‘Paula’ album was revealed to be on course for a less-then-stellar debut this week, its US sales forecast has been revised down.

Details below…

According to Hits Daily Double, the project’s somewhat embarrassing 20k-25k first week sales forecast has been updated to reflect a 20k-23k likely debut.

Dismal.

On the one hand, it’s entirely plausible that folk simply didn’t know about the project at all given that its release was announced merely two weeks before its arrival. Yet, there’s the possibility that the “win her back” concept was received as tacky by the masses and has ultimately backfired.

What’s more, for yours truly, there’s also the reality that the album sonically channels the more laid back sound of a pre-‘Blurred Lines’ Robin – a Robin that, though commanding a dedicated niche audience, was nowhere near as successful.

From our vantage point, the LP’s tanking is likely a triangulation of all of the above.

Sad.

But he never was a huge seller tho. I think even one of his albums did 37K. Maybe this is a trial and error album to take his artistry to the next level.

Wonder how long it will take for Mariah & Jlo to see 100K…

The Elusive Chanteuse debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart with sales of 58,000 copies. In its second week of sales, the album dropped to number 18 on the chart, selling 16,090 copies, bringing the total to 75,000 copies. In its third week of sales, the album dropped to number 43 on the chart, selling 8,000 copies, bringing the total to 83,000 copies.

And this should end the “Whites are taking black music” BS. Time changes, Rock music was the biggest genre in the world, now it’s non existing. When was the last time you seen a rock song on the charts? Or album on top more than a week? It’s not just R&B people.

      Imagine dragons?

      • Skyfall July 2, 2014

Imagine Dragon are Pop Rock to me.

      • CherylSoldier July 2, 2014

They’re definitely not. Just because an artist receives mainstream radio airplay doesn’t make them pop.

      • Mark111 July 2, 2014

ID is alternative rock. But that’s still just one vs a bunch 12 years ago.

    • OMG Logic! July 2, 2014

Real Rock artists are unfazed by album sales. They’ve always relied on touring, and a good rock group never lacks an audience.

THE ALBUM IS GREAT THO – people crack me up! They hated on Blurred Lines, for tbeing the worst song ever, but it broke records, now he is doing nice, mellow, deep music, and they don’t support- IT IS SAD! Adele can sing about broken hearts, and she is GOD tho! THIS MAN LIVE SLAYS MOST MALE ARTISTS OUT – PERIOD! him John Legend, Usher – KILL IT!
