Less than a year after they signed with the LA Reid-ran label, Rough Copy have reportedly been dropped by Epic Records, given the boot after their debut single failed to fly in their domestic market.

Full story below…

Picked up by the label after they competed on hit show X Factor UK, the R&B trio has been tapped for success both home and away when a who’s who of the UK’s strongest Urban Pop writers and producers were enlisted to build bops for their debut album.

However, any hopes of following in the globe trotting footsteps of Sam Smith, Adele and Emeli Sande were soon crushed for the boys, reportedly losing the label’s support when their debut single ‘Street Love’ failed to impact the UK’s ‘Official Singles Chart.

An industry source told ‘The Sun on Sunday‘:

Epic were clearly unhappy with how the single had performed. It was expected to chart in the Top 10 considering the platform they had been given through the X Factor. Both sides are insisting it was an amicable and mutual split.

Since its May 12th 2014 release, ‘Love’s visual has garnered 471,511 spins.

Never heard of them, so Epic failed with the promo. Plus that song is garbage.

    • ASipofBrandy October 19, 2014

Epic are so s***** it makes my stomach turn and I need Queen Sade to leave there pronto. How is your biggest act going to be a guy who died five years ago?

    • KendrickSlaymar October 19, 2014

A Kelly Rowland fan talking about garbage songs and poor promo? #CanWeFuckingNot

  2. HelloAvril October 19, 2014

Their song was bad and none of them have star quality which is why Epic dropped them so fast. Truth be told Epic are the only label dumb enough to sign a uk boy band trying to make R&B in 2014. Maybe they can focus on promoting Avril instead of letting Vince run the place into the ground by buying Tamar’s albums with Sony’s money.

    • Natalia Thrills October 19, 2014

True dat but they had potential, it’s just that the song was the pits.

    • SMH October 19, 2014

You have no clue how stupid you sound. If Vince was gonna buy Tamar’s albums she would be platinum. She hasn’t even gone Gold. Sit down.

  3. Angelite224 October 19, 2014

I knew Epic didn’t believe in them from when the song got no real promo.

    • NaijaQueen (Rough Copy’s Wife To Be) October 19, 2014

Instead of you to be worrying about Angel’s floppage you’re talking about what you did and didn’t know about Rough Copy.
Has Angel even have any certifications? Can he even do a African party hall tour? I do not think so, so shut your mouth before I shut it for you. #HalistosisHavingBitch

      • Angelite224 October 19, 2014

I know you’re not coming for Angel when he can actually make the charts. Even if his last album flopped he still has a few hit singles and is wiping the floor with Unemployed Copy.

The real gag is that Rita’s p**** has been smashed more times than plates at a Greek wedding. #Hmmkay

  4. NOLIES October 19, 2014

    Maybe people didn’t like their skirts… 🙂

    (Ciara next)

    • ItsCheryl2Bh October 19, 2014

You tried but failed boo boo. They didn’t slay because they look to rough even though they’re very nice guys and they’re song is shittier than a public toilet in Diarrheaville. Why they didn’t call King Eric Bellinger to write them a slayage bop is beyond me 2bh.

      • Ariana’sGrand October 19, 2014

Their budget was probably too small to afford Eric. Most of the UK flops go to Talay Riley.

  5. Beysus October 19, 2014

I heard they were on one of those shows but never paid any interest…

  6. Yea ok October 19, 2014

The only people benefitting today from these stupid reality competitions are simon and the networks who are making money off ads. Who really in today’s climate becomes a huge star off being on or even winning one of these shows? I’ve never heard of these guys. Although I forget the UK audience for some reason stil buys into these mediocre acts. Sam smith. Adele. And Emile sande are all very niche but oh so talented. Boy bands? So 2000 and late.

    • LiquidDreamer(OTown4Ever) October 19, 2014

Excuse me b****, boybands are not late, it’s the S*** ones that are late so please make the distinction, ok?

    • LDN Chick October 19, 2014

      One Direction

      • FAF October 19, 2014

        @NOLIES

except shes the only artist shipping units over there

now tell more lies, ugly f***-t 😆

  7. Molly October 19, 2014

    Who?

    • HistoRih October 19, 2014

      Ciara’s label mates so beware.

      • FAF October 19, 2014

^waiting on r8.. has she paid the producers and writers for it yet ?

  8. Josh October 19, 2014

If you want a career with longevity, X Factor isn’t the answer. Most of these singers want a quick shot at fame because they can’t be bothered to work and get creative enough for themselves.

  9. cocobutta October 19, 2014

WTF (Why the) was that single allowed to even hear the light of day.
That was a foul move. They should have a least been allowed to release something that was their own sound.

    Oh well!

    • Dem Lessors October 20, 2014

      Agreed epic let them down.

  10. m October 19, 2014

Labels have no idea how Market R&B artist.
    Why the auto tune?

Who’s idea was it to throw in the dub step instrumental? Do producers have any clue any more.

Based off their vocal strength and the sample of “Sweet Love”, there was a chance of a great single had they added a nice beat and melodic instrumental.

  11. FutureCIARA October 19, 2014

Im not suprised, especially after I read they came from one of those tv talent shows… Xfactor I think… Whatever, It was bound to happen.

Epic needs to stay fuckkin focused on the artist that they already have and stop getting side-tracked! Like WTF!

  12. Dem Lessors October 20, 2014

I liked them on the xfactor but that song was bound to flop. Tamera Foster was the only b**** they can market that’s why they’re delaying her release.

  13. lolhart October 20, 2014

As much as I would love for there to be a hot new male RnB group, it was never going to be these guys. The number of times they sang out of tune was shocking. YouTube any of their performances when they were in the sing-off if you doubt me.
