Hot Shot: Beyonce Poses With Ashanti At Nets Game

Ashanti is on a roll.

Fresh from being snapped with Instagram’s next top model Rihanna over the weekend, the R&B belle bumped into former rival Beyonce at the New York Nets game at the Barclay’s Centre last night.

The ‘Only U’ belter was on hand to perform the US National Anthem at the event, which was also attended by Jay-Z (who owns a stake in the venue).

Clearly, based on the pic above, there was no animosity between the ladies – nor should there have been. Yes, they were pit against each other for years, but neither has ever had anything negative to say.

And while one’s contributions to music has far outpaced the other, they both have songs and records that today’s new names could only dream of achieving. More power to them both!

No DEAD at Ms Sam keeping saying Her ex Rival????? When Bey went solo there were no Rivals ! Beyonce slaughtered her competition!!! There are receipts look at her Wikipedia ! She basically took every award home that had her name on it in that era where Ashanti was most relevant in! No Shade seriously ASHANTI AND BEY we’re NEVER head to head!! Ashanti always been back seat switchinh her style up every Era

Ashanti and Beyonce have actually been cool with each other for years! They both came out around the same time so I dont think its ever been a beef or bad blood just Beyonce’s star power was brighter! People can hate on Ashanti but she is a strong song writer.

I would love to hear a collabo between these two.

We gotta stop pitting females in the music industry together to make it seem like there was some kind of rivalry of hate.
Ashanti may have had her time back in 2002 – 2003 but hell the girl should be remembered for breaking records in R&B in a certain, profound way that not many can say…….
And plus do we really see Ashanti as a Singer/Dancer to compare to Beyonce? Ashanti to me was like Mary J. Blige, Brandy, and Monica. They all had to dance at some point in their careers because they know they can’t just sing and stand up in every music video. In other words, all of those girls that I mentioned will not be remembered for their dancing but for their songs and voices.

We need to stop belittling others to make the other stand taller. SMH! Wonder why we don’t have a lot of black female singers at the top no more…

      Exactly, I agree.

I feel what your saying IM NOT discrediting Ashanti I’m saying she could never hold a kettle to BEY! I’m a realist and very anti-naive ! I love Bey but I don’t praise her but FACTS IS FACTS ! BEYBEYS rivals were the rock stars and pop stars that were CASHING IN!

Finally!!! This is the first picture they actually took together. I’m not joking. You can look all through the web you won’t find one.

Everybody wanna hang out with Ashanti because of Tinashe lol

  7. Kingofhearts November 4, 2014

Never really understood the Ashanti slander like what has she done to anybody. The girl pushed out 3 PLATINUM albums and wrote 95% of them, 14 top ten singles #1 movieS and her Braveheart album outsold Tinashe, Keyshia, J.lo, and Jennifer Hudson and she’s not even as “famous” as them. Like I don’t get it.

I see no lies 😉 Ashanti did her thing, and she wrote everything for real…no shade tho.

    • Really?! November 4, 2014

Who could ever forget Beyoncé vs. Ashanti? I remember buying Chapter II & Dangerously in Love and thinking they both are awful albums. I appreciated the effort on B’s part, but no thank you. Nevertheless, when Ashanti didn’t open up for Mariah Carey’s Charmbracelet tour (like intended) & I saw how great a performer B was growing to, I knew who was going to win. However, Concrete Rose was cute, but Ashanti’s best work is The Declaration. B’s best work is 4, and second is the self titled track. I think they both are unbelievably gorgeous women though and talented in their own individual lights.

Yes! The declaration is so underrated.

It’s funny how Beyoncé is all of a sudden paying attention to other black female artist (i.e. Nicki, Janet, Ashanti). For years she has been praised by these same artist, but dares anyone to bring their names up in her interviews. I say she dares their names to be brought up because she’s never asked about them, which is strange. This is the first pic I have ever seen with her and Ashanti, she won’t mention Rhianna’s success to save her life and they’re on the same label!

    • Girl what November 4, 2014

      Girl, you’re idiot.

      • Really?! November 4, 2014

        *you’re an idiot

  11. Stephy Tha Lambily November 4, 2014

Dangerously In Love was NOT an awful album. You tried it!

    • King M.J November 4, 2014

I agree, that album was amazing!

  12. Kiyonce’ November 4, 2014

Yeah she definitely tried it ! Bey was ahead of her time with that album & “4” was good but it wasn’t all that to me , I love self-titled it’s so bold and different from her usual music

  13. Yeah I Said It November 4, 2014

Awww I wonder how much Ashanti paid for the meet and greet?

  14. BeyRihLiyah November 4, 2014

hov and bey is so thoughtful they took pictures with the food workers who work the concession stands at the basketball games

  15. d November 4, 2014

No shade but they WERE at one point rivals….DIL and Chapter 2 came out a week apart( with Ashanti having higher opening numbers). Ashanti was hitting the top 10 with Aww Baby and ROM while Beyonce had CIL and BabyBoy out……they truly were going at it for a brief minute. It was the second that Murder Inc decided to pull the plug on Chapter 2 for the remix album, that Beyonce won the battle( and war), it was also the start of the end of Ashanti’s career( as a top figure).
