“So you think I fell off”
Usher chants the lyrics above in newly surfaced song ‘I Still Got It’.
Needless to say, it’s clear the singer has been staying abreast of the latest chitter-chatter surrounding his position in the music industry.
Featuring rapper Migos, the cut sees the Grammy winner directly address the critique – much of which has hit his career following the scrapping delay of album ‘UR’ after a string of pre-release singles under-performed.
And while the 35-year-old continues to diligently work on the project, he uses this track (which will feature on upcoming Digital Trapstars mixtape, ‘Screens On Lock: 4th Quarter Press’) to air his feelings.
Take a listen below…
By no means a terrible track, we feel the word employable here is…unnecessary.
Yes, the song keeps Usher’s name in the mix musically, but does it advance his cause or better yet that of his album? We vote “no”.
He’s of a status that doesn’t require throw-away buzz cuts. Given that his singles have been tanking like lead balloons of late (factually speaking), his best bet would be to simply come swinging with an A* track and back it with Triple A promo and the rest, in theory, should work out accordingly.
Again, not bad…just…somewhat…pointless.
