Lady Gaga may be a few years short of a decade in the music business, but her impact is undeniable.
It’s a stance the 2015 Songwriter’s Hall of Fame clearly take on, for they have announced the 29-year old as the recipient of one of their coveted Icon awards.

Mother Monster will be honored with the the inaugural Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 19th.
The presentation is bestowed up a performing songwriter “who has attained an iconic status in pop culture,” according to a statement from organizers today.
Gaga has had a hand writing most of her hits, including ‘Poker Face,”Just Dance,’ and 2013’s ‘Applause.’

Granted some may gasp, we feel Gaga is entirely deserving. What’s more, unlike some laughable “Icon” awards that have been handed out in recent years, this particular honor seems geared at a “contemporary” talent – which is exactly what Gaga is.
From our vantage point, her “best” is likely embedded projects ahead. That said, it’s important authentic, genuine talent such as her are celebrated while they’re “here.”
On a somewhat random note, this also serves as a great look ahead of the release of her hotly anticipated new studio album.

She really is an amazing talent but she just ventured way too far and way too fast away from the musical style that got people hooked and the shock tactics got old. I wish her the best with the new music because Katy is just so generic and tasteless without the talent level to give her a pass on it. I haven’t listened to either album entirely but everything I have heard from artpop is 1000 times better than everything from the dollar McMusic menu called prism. This is how we do is an abomination and is perfect example of why everyone hates white people from the suburbs.

Gaga is extremely talented, so i applaud her, however, i truly believe that ppl are loosely using and abusing the word icon. MJ, Tina Turner, Cher, and etc are true icons. At this time, ppl are labeling everyone an icon almost as much as TGJ is labeling everyone a chanteuse. :/

Mine is probably “Veni Vidi Vici”. I LOVE it!
Devil Pray, which is one of the best songs she has recorded, let me tell you something, the best songs were left out of the album or the ones that she put in it were changed too much to the point that they don’t sound the same, the demo of Living for Love, Borrowed Time, Rebel Heart and Joan of Arc were 1000 times better, she ruined those songs, i understand why she did it though, the leaks ruined everything, still a solid pop record, others favorite songs of this era are not included on the album, Freedom, Revolution, Alone With You, Nothing Last Forever, Tragic Girl, Queen and Two Steps Behind Me, i enjoy more the demos, let’s say that i made my own album, lol.
