With the New Year all but upon us, Adele is gearing up to bless the charts with a brand new single from her epic selling ’25’ album.

The LP’s lead release ‘Hello’ has taken residency atop of the charts worldwide since its release on October 23rd. Case in point the US where it spends its sixth week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Aiming to ensure the project’s success beyond its launch window, the 27-year-old Brit will reportedly service a follow-up to ‘Hello’ imminently.

So, which song has been ordained with the honor? Find out below…

Billboard has gone on record to confirm soaring ballad ‘When We Were Young’ as the official second single from ’25.’

‘Young’ debuted at #22 on the Hot 100 two weeks ago, racing out of the gate with 3.7 million Stateside streams and 101,000 downloads sold that week.

Now, with airplay promo in the mix, the rousing tale of reminisce is almost guaranteed ascend to new heights on the Hot 100 – and, of course, charts globally.

*************

With an album as huge as ’25,’ single selection will always polarize. But we feel this to be a strong choice. And one that lyrically embodies the universal nature of ‘Hello.’

Saying that, we would have preferred ‘Remedy’ or ‘Water Under The Bridge.’ Or dare we say ‘Send My Love (To Your New Lover)’ so as to switch things up sonically (not necessarily because it’s best track). However, it’s entirely plausible that each will receive the single treatment and chart-topping success too.

For now, though, get all the way in to ‘When We Were Young Below’

Idk. I like her but I’m just not down with the hype. I get the whole Kelly Price “I’m fat, depressed and melancholy” bit, I’m just not totally sold on it. But she has a nice voice, it’s very rich!

    • Danny Bey December 14, 2015

Same. I don’t quite get it either.

      • Memo December 14, 2015

Can you tell me what’s the hype over Beyoncé’s music then?

      • RihYonce December 14, 2015

Beyoncé is diverse & she’s not a one trick pony that’s why we love her ! She can sing about being in love, depressed , and then turn around & make you want to dance that’s why , Adele is just boring & overrated yea she’s a great singer but she sings about the same thing this is no different from her last albums , none of Beyoncé music sound the same each album is different

        @ RihYonce – [:In Tamar Voice}

        “LIES YOU TELL!!!”

    • Cough Cough December 14, 2015

@Memo: I wasn’t comparing her to Beyonce but what I do appreciate about Beyonce is that she is very versatile. I could do a mix of songs from each of adeles albums and you wouldn’t be able to tell which song was from which era… Not by the vocals, not by the subject matter, and not by the feeling of the music or by its production. All which has nothing to do with Beyonce so idk why you brought her into it

      • RihYonce December 14, 2015

Still trying to figure out what Beyoncé had to do with this but I see no lies in your comment or mine , clearly whoever disagrees is in denial but idc we know the truth

      • Memo December 14, 2015

Oh, c´mon. Beyoncé’s music is not any diverse. One is attached to their style (depressing), while the other is too (lack of depth) and both of them are very good at that. That’s it.

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 15, 2015

        @memo
They both slay Rihanna in terms of album concepts and actual vocal talent. So idk why you even felt the need to throw your two cents in there.

That British Colonial mentality is real, whether White America realizes it or not.

  2. Rory December 14, 2015

She shouldn’t have chosen that one. She has so many other better choices (All I Ask, Remedy, Water Under The Bridge), etc

    • ENOUGH ONIKA December 14, 2015

Yall say that about every artist with every single they choose

  3. Your MADGEsty (Madonna Stan) December 14, 2015

“When We Were Young” is the WORST song from her discography thus far and it is just not “SINGLE” worthy whatsoever. It’s a cute lil’ deep song to ponder too when you’re listening to the album but that’s it.

“Water Under The Bridge” or “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” would have fared better – we need an upbeat song from her now, something we haven’t gotten since “Rolling in the Deep”. Hell, “I Miss You” – her first semi-sexual song – would have been great too; it’s different and could do well at R&B radio.

Anyway, I still don’t think 25 is going to have longevity that 21 had. The album is selling because of HYPE and it being the holidays and WHITE AMERICA wanting a musical spokesperson that isn’t country singer. Oh well… MUTHA is still doing her thaang.

  4. ?Queen Molly? December 14, 2015

    Shoulda picked remedy

    • T Jay December 14, 2015

“Remedy” or “All I Ask” would’ve much better singles.

  5. Kayla C December 14, 2015

Y’all will try and find every negative thing about a person when they are winning lol, pathetic. The album is amazing, would’ve preferred another 2nd single, but then again who cares about a single,I can listen to all the songs because I own them

    • GameTyme December 14, 2015

      No lies detected!

  6. Diabetes unbothered December 14, 2015

HELLO might be the WE BELONG TOGETHER of the 2010s. I thought Young WAS the 2nd single lol. ALL i ask should be 3rd then send my love for summer.

  7. MsYonce December 14, 2015

Send My Love (To Your New Lover)should be the second singleee

  8. Truth December 14, 2015

Its winter. She is choosing her singles properly. Send my love will probably be a single by spring/summer I just love that song.

  9. ENOUGH ONIKA December 14, 2015

No ones ever equally happy with whatever follow up single an artist chooses, someone always thinks there was a better choice. Anyway, haven’t listened to any of the album except “Hello.” She just doesn’t do it for me…guess cause I’m not dexpressed….or fat BUT she does write decent songs for the Four Seaasons hotel elevators I heard while on vacation…

  10. AJ December 14, 2015

The River Lea, Water Under the Bridge and Remedy are all smashed waiting to happen. If 25 spawns those as singles in addition to When We Were Young it’ll be a great era

  11. Diabetes unbothered December 14, 2015

I will say outside of all i ask hello send my love & million years ago this album is overrated. Remedy & under the bridge & sweetest devotion are so blah to me or maybe bland is the better word. I guess i just expected STRONGER songs for an album with only 11 songs. Youll never see me again and someone like you should have been the style of this album but some of the songs like remedy anyone one can sing. For a 4 year break she could have done better even send my love is only good when you lean attention more toward the chorus as a whole the song is no better than taylor swift bad blood. Adele just needs a bigger sound next album or ppl will bore of her and move on to the next susan boyle or sam smith.

    • Memo December 14, 2015

Considering the fact that you think Beyoncé creates perfect music, not much can be said.

      • Diabetes unbothered December 14, 2015

There are PLENTY of bey songs i dont like like 1+1 i cant even stomach that song. Same goes for XO. Adeles music is FAR FROM perfect either… remedy is overrated asf… just as bad if not worse than 1+1.

      • Diabetes unbothered December 14, 2015

I also hate SCARED OF LONELY & THATS WHY YUR BEAUTIFUL. Adele & Bey on the same hit/miss boat musically just one too often DEPRESSING and the other too often RANCHET/tryhard.

      • RihYonce December 14, 2015

She didn’t say beys music was perfect , it’s just not boring & that’s what Adele’s music is ……BORING

  12. MsYonce December 14, 2015

This album is wayyy better than 21 she deserves every bit of success she’s getting this album is great

    • RihYonce December 14, 2015

      Agreed

  13. DEL BEY December 14, 2015

It should of been Sweetest Devotion, that’s been on repeat non stop.

    • ?Queen Molly? December 14, 2015

      Hows the blog going sis?

      • DEL BEY December 14, 2015

Good thanks, actually writing for several websites now. Gotta get them coins, Wbu?

  14. Rich white women December 14, 2015

When we’re young was picked because there was already high demand for the single. I think after that she should release water under the bridge, send my love for the spring and close the era with sweetest deviation. I can

  15. christinastherealtalent December 14, 2015

I’d love to see her step out of her comfort zone and release something daring! I’d love to see I Miss You get the single treatment!! Water Under the Bridge and Send My Love should def get the single treatment at some point.

  16. RihYonce December 14, 2015

I don’t get all of the hype about a single if you own the album, but congrats to Adele with all of her success so far I was hoping for her to switch it up & release “Send My Love” instead of another depressing song but who cares she’ll succeed either way it goes

  17. #JACKIE December 14, 2015

    I’m tired of hearing HELLO

    • Mimi December 14, 2015

Like the GP is tired of Ciara. That explains why she’s a flop T***** Atlanta hood Rat.

      • #JACKIE December 14, 2015

Your mother taught her well sis.?

      • Mimi December 15, 2015

Lol weak, just like your T-Cells.

  18. Theman December 14, 2015

She can release five or six more singles from this album. This album is great. It also has diverse songs on it. She isn’t selling because of hype. It’s because the music is amazing & she had a huge era. She also connects incredibly well through her music with her fans..

  19. thando December 14, 2015

A spectacular body of work. No song sounds like its filler they’re all good quality. Any of the songs can be a single. And as far as versatility is concerned, I don’t think it matters much Beyonce’s versatility hasn’t gotten her a classic album. 19, 21, 25 are three of the best music albums in recent times. Well done Adele you deserve every inch of success you’ve receive and will continue to get well into 2016 and your 2nd AOTY Grammy. Lol

  20. dee December 14, 2015

All I Ask is my favorite song. Her vocals in this song slays!

  21. TheElusiveLamb December 14, 2015

I’m here for it just because I want a new single out, but I wanted Remedy to be the next single.

  22. Music all the way December 14, 2015

Water under the bridge OR sweetest devotion…..but whatever! Am i the only one who think that I CAN’T LET GO s***$ over 50% of the songs on that album….That song has that soul that just sends chills down my spine especially the chorus

  23. Cake like Lady GaGa December 15, 2015

No matter which song she had chosen, you fagggotss would still be complaining. But no one cares coz none of your broke azzez actually buy music. So ch….

  24. mr.m December 15, 2015

I think it is the right decision. Smart.
that song is the most hyped song after hello
so it is going to be boring to put it out as 3rd of 4th single. I see it as a follow up to Hello.
Not saying its my fav, but it sure a smart 2nd single choice.
