In 2015, Azealia Banks was lauded for her groundbreaking Hot 97 interview in which she slammed institutional racism and its irreparable affect on African-Americans.
In 2016, the entertainer showcased behaviour akin to those she often speaks out against by launching a racially charged attack on the Pakistani performer Zayn Malik.
Now, she has apologised for her abhorrent actions.

If you can pass the way she express herself you’ll see that what she’s shareing is so TRUE. I agree with being over the way she acts out and her putting rants before her talents but Bruh.. This girl speaks and calls out some ish that the world needs to hear and see. It’s almost scary how intelligent she is for her age and status… It scary and weird. This is dumb. She claims she knew it was the mother yet she grossly talked about that child’s body. What happened to her pro black woman stance? The real issue is she hates the skin she is in. TBH, I don’t think what she said was really bad to Zayn. I was shocked at how he respond so I guess I get why she kind of reacted like that. But the lil girl really said nothing wrong.. and she know damn well that was not the mother talking for her daughter. Truth be told, if that’s the case, the mother was writing the script for her daughter on the Jessie show too? Because looking back at her character (even tho it was a show) lil girl was always a leader forreal. This wasnt an apology. She should leave it alone. What was so shocking about his response? He simply didn’t give her the satisfaction of acknowledging her the way SHE wanted and it drove her over the edge.
