Iggy Azalea is clearly undeterred by questions surrounding her X Factor.
For, the ‘Team’ rapper has signed up as a judge on the Australian edition of the show – a role which will see her weighing in on the singing of contestants and mentoring acts.
Details on the femcee’s new gig Down Under…
The show’s Twitter made the official announcement about Azalea’s recruitment moments ago:
Speaking to the Herald newspaper, the 26-year-old explained her reasons for joining the show. She said….
“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me, so I said yes.
Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney.
So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.
I really want to be able to pick unique people and hopefully have them connect with everybody watching.”
Hmm.
Beyond the fact that Iggy – a polarising rapper – will be judging singers, we’re more puzzled about the timeline.
Doesn’t she have an album coming out that’ll require worldwide promotion (see: ‘Digital Distortion’)? Such shows are no small commitment and tape for months. Given the potent push needed to re-ignite her music career, being tucked away in Australia is a confusing move.
