Iggy Azalea Joins ‘The X Factor Australia’ As A Judge

Iggy Azalea is clearly undeterred by questions surrounding her X Factor.

For, the ‘Team’ rapper has signed up as a judge on the Australian edition of the show – a role which will see her weighing in on the singing of contestants and mentoring acts.

Details on the femcee’s new gig Down Under…

The show’s Twitter made the official announcement about Azalea’s recruitment moments ago:

Speaking to the Herald newspaper, the 26-year-old explained her reasons for joining the show. She said….

“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me, so I said yes.

Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney.

So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.

I really want to be able to pick unique people and hopefully have them connect with everybody watching.”

Hmm.

Beyond the fact that Iggy – a polarising rapper – will be judging singers, we’re more puzzled about the timeline.

Doesn’t she have an album coming out that’ll require worldwide promotion (see: ‘Digital Distortion’)? Such shows are no small commitment and tape for months. Given the potent push needed to re-ignite her music career, being tucked away in Australia is a confusing move.

Your thoughts?

I guess since she’s flopping with her music she needed a back up plan. But thought you had to be a singer in order to judge these shows?

This move is sure to help her career. You can’t deny that she’s definitely a fighter and she’s not going down and fading into the background without giving it her all. Gotta respect that about her.

If this girl had just debuted as her authentic Australian self this would not be happening. I’m sure she regrets it now. And if TI wanted to bank roll a white chick rapper, there’s plenty in the US and UK who would’ve been more believable.

    Girl getcho money ??????????

You don’t have to be a singer to judge a singing show. The human ear is the human ear. Besides the guy from deal or no deal can’t sing and he judges singers. I use to like iggy before she got famous.

    ?????? I’m fine.

i’ll be honest I’m not a fan of hers but i really respect her hustle! This is a great move for her cos the root of her downfall is the fact that people think she’s fake cos she raps in a deep south accent, I noticed on Team she is trying to slowly sound more Australian, the general public seeing her personality and her connecting with her roots to give her some organic-ness could be what she needs to save her career, her music isn;t bad but her disrespect to Q-Tip was what turned me off her completely as she knows nothing about rap music, she defy needs a commercial makeover after the mess she made last year so I reckon this is a good move!

I agree with most of this. Although I wouldn’t say it’s all 100% her fault what happened last year to her. Though she did have a part in it with the constant clap backs and not knowing when to just be quiet. But anyway for the reasons that you stated it could be a good gig for her. But for me as a fan it just seems weird. Like they stated in the article it just seems a weird move when she’s about to release an album and was supposed to go on tour shortly after that then get married shortly after that. But we will see hopefully she can manage to be a judge and keep her music career afloat at the same time. Especially since the show is half way around the world. Guess we’ll see.

I here you, well if she plans it out properly it should be a good move, the album will be out and her face will be regularly seen for months every week which is great promo, if she shoots some of the videos in-between she can be promoting the album at the same time as she;s pushing X Factor, it worked for Cheryl Cole, either way I hope it works out for her

What hustle people? She’s done! She never had it, she got lucky with that one hit. Now let’s move on.

Let’s be real, Iggy’s had a handful of hits. Even I don’t like her music as much but she definitely ain’t a one hit wonder.

At least she tries unlike some of these bums who give up and go on drugs she has tenacity the problem with society and Internet quick to put someone career in the dumpster and majority of yall broke as hell cannot afford Internet but will go to Starbucks use WiFi to come hate this woman she is worth 10 million dollars from her flop career you haters she has good look to her for coming and trying at her dreams in America she will do well in her country that will give her support kudos

Can’t knock a plan B I guesss. She’ll get more coin than her album sales so it’s an ok move.

She can teach them what not to do when on social media and how to better capitalise on hit songs to try keep a momentum.

She’s literally gone back to her country. At this point she knows her career was based on false hype and money she made from escorting as well as Charli’s talent so this is the best thing for her. The only problem I have is that Iggy (when slaying the charts) makes Nicki nervous which then makes Nicki step her game up. Without competition I suspect Nicki will go back to the sub par mess she gave us in 2012.

    • Danzou June 15, 2016

I was thinking the SAME thing. Nicki is at her best when she feels threatened. It’s her blessing and curse.

  11. Truvibes June 12, 2016

Yes she is a flop but i think her management are amazing !! So kudos to them… They can definitely still bank her a couple mill a year for the next 2-3years which isn’t bad… Theres not much money in music unless u strike it big which is hard enough for someone with huge talent no to talk of someone as mediocre as Iggy so i wish her the best

  12. Team beauty June 12, 2016

Good riddance at least it will stop her from releasing any music for a while☺
