In honour of her gainful relationship with fashion Beyonce was presented with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award yesterday evening.
Celebrated for her support of the field by way of her career in music, the performer used her acceptance speech to honour her grandmother, mother and uncle for introducing her to its power and urged designers to recognise the importance of racial diversity.

Lovely speech. I personally have not always been a fan of Beyoncé’s fashions. However, I did live for her Thotyoncé era (2003 – 2006) when she was all about glamour, sequins, mini dresses and a head-to-toe bronzed look. It kills me when people try to use her apparent lack of style as shade when at the end of the day, Bey is most recognised for her MUSICAL TALENT. Something these girls y’all go up for that top best-dressed lists don’t seem to have very much of. Yes, she’s a pop star and image is everything in that world but she’s never used fashion as a crutch. At the end of the day, this is just another award to add to get mantle. Accept that it’s been done and just move on.
