Too Little Too Late? Azealia Banks Regrets Her Many Controversies

When Azealia Banks dropped the blazing ‘212’ four years ago, she looked poised for superstardom.

From her flow to her unapologetic brand of feisty, she was hailed as a much-needed breath of fresh air on a scene that had become majorly mono.

Yet, as the story goes, the years that followed have seen the New Yorker lock horns with a who’s who of the music industry. She’s also made it routine to rile up various groups on social media.

Recent times have seen her plentiful episodes catch up with her; slots at festivals have been snatched back, sales are drier than the Sahara, and fellow artists seem to be steering clear. A stark difference to a time when the likes of Lady Gaga and Pharrell were dialling her digits.

Feeling the weight of her woes, the femcee took to Facebook (she’s been banned from Twitter) today to express regret.

Her words await below…

Though we’ve long been ardent believers in her talent, we’ve always felt something to be a little unhinged about Azealia.

It’s easy to dismiss her words; and there’s a small part of us – the frustrated fans who watched her squander each opportunity – dangerously close to doing so.

Compassionately though, we do kind of feel for her. Because her words read like a worrying cry for help. Hopefully better days lay ahead for her – both personally and professionally.

I don’t feel bad at all. When she did the interview wit Ebro, he tried to tell her to chill out. Her dumb a$$ is broke so now she wants sympathy. Next time, check your ego and attitude at the door. Smh bye

    • Miguel September 11, 2016

Next! No one cares abt her.

    • September 11, 2016

I feel bad for her, i didn’t dislike her from the get go, even through her nonsense stupid fight pickings, hope she turns her life around.

    • Shaun hova September 11, 2016

Oh, I’m sorry. She’s a human being and has made mistakes. It’s funny how you have somebody like r.Kelly sleeping with underage girls and hits career isn’t tarnished yet, azealia banks is dismissed because of arguments. Patriarchy at its best. No, I’m not defending what she’s done but she shouldn’t have this over her head forever.

    • FAF September 12, 2016

So she’s admitting her career was based off of Twitter

      Finally she gets it ????????

She spent all her time coming at Iggy just to want to be the same color

Nicki paid them h*** dust and elevated her brand

And she’s the only one standing

  2. ? September 11, 2016

She sounds like shes going to jump off a bridge

  3. The Legend Called Missy Elliott September 11, 2016

Don’t fall for it she’ll be back to calling people f*** and sand n****ers in no time.

  4. S****** Blonde September 11, 2016

    Lol that picture.

    • ANNA September 11, 2016

Do you find her more attractive now?

      • S****** Blonde September 11, 2016

        Lol, no, she looks weird.

  5. Abel Minaj (Arianator Barb) September 11, 2016

I believe that the art and the artist are 2 separate things and the art should never be punished for the artist’s actions but with that being said i cannot support her. I love the music she’s made and always will but i will not stand by her. She’s a very troubled woman with deep insecurities, i hope she gets therapy and i wish her the best.

    • BangBang September 11, 2016

I understand what you saying and no disrespect… But when you put out a product your name is attached to you have to be careful of what you say because your art is an extension of who you are as a person. And if someone thinks your an ugly person (not physically) but if you say ugly things people are going to want no part of you. The only way a fan can hurt you is to not support you and spend their money elsewhere. And unfortunately she does not have a fan base as big as Rihanna Beyoncé or any of the other girls to alienate any group of people. If you offend all the gay people by calling them f**** and and offend all the black people by calling them n****** and offend other popular artist that could potentially help you get a wider audience and a hit song on radio who do you have left??? She has a lot to think about what what direction she want to go with her career now.

  6. Bye September 11, 2016

    A 13 year old ended her…………

  7. Kwinzy September 11, 2016

Some the most troubled people in the world were still able to pull through and be successful again. Some of biggest homophobes like 50 Cent & Eminem get passes yet Azealia, a bi-sexual woman, gets her name thrown in the mud? Celebs bleach their skin on the low yet Azealia gets all the blame for being open? Y’all jumped the Iggy Azalea hate bandwagon, calling her all kinds of racist slurs and white appropriation yet A.B.’s the racist? Hypocrites…F*** y’all! Come thru, pretty A.B. #FantaseaII #BusinessAndPleasure #Coco

    • BangBang September 11, 2016

yes well noted…but something else to consider, Eminem is a white artist who is known to say or do anything. He also has a knack for saying things in a way where it sounds like something that can be popular. 50 cent had a similar skill as well as where he made really popular songs as well. Eminem is a man and a white man at that . He can say whatever he wants and get away with it because white people support their own. 50 cent will do anything and also he is a man they can be homophobes and not be looked at as funny because their men. A bi sexual woman calling people a f*** is not gonna fly anywhere. First of all she a woman Women get a lot more criticism then men anyway and second she gay. Gay people don’t like when you don’t support their own. I know people don’t like that their is a double standard but there is. As soon as she understands that and except it she’ll be better off! She has to know how to straddle the fence and shatter that double standard with dignity and respect and carry that s*** like a lady! I believe she can do that I have heard her speak and think she very smart! But if she try’s to Bogarde her way through shattering important stereotypes the wrong way people are not going to appreciate it and what she trying to accomplish is not going to come off correct! I believe she is that b****! She can do it but be smart about it!

    • FAF September 12, 2016

      This was a different era

Even lil Kim used the word f*****
We’re not in a gangsta rap era

Everyone has been sensitive over words since probably about 07 when BEP had that song

“Let’s get retarded” they changed the lyrics

  8. Lmfao-H** September 11, 2016

I don’t feel bad at all, we are all adults here well some of us on here lol. Any who, Azealia burned her own bridges before she could literally crossover. So many opportunists were at her feet all gone because she was an asshole. Came after Gaga, Pharell, Zayn, Beyonce, Nicki, Kim, Wale, ect. all which for no reason and still paid her ass dust, then got her ass checked by a 14 year old.

  9. Hi Hater! September 11, 2016

She is a strong black woman she will get through it ?? ???

  10. Dee September 11, 2016

She brought this on herself. It’s okay to be a bit maverick but she went full fledged CRAY CRAY. There was VERY little that she didn’t say that was way way WAY too much. She had her fifteen minutes of fame and it’s a DAYUM SHAME that she spent 14 minutes of it throwing shade and DIRT at other people. SMH…

  11. Captiann September 11, 2016

So we’re suppose to act like we don’t see this skin bleach tho?

    • moi September 13, 2016

She lost all the goodwill I had for her by bleaching … how did she think that would be ok after pushing a black pride agenda which I supported

  12. Fancy BISH September 11, 2016

Will she ever make ONE hit song? She’s been crying every day for four months and she can’t make a hit song from that pain? She should make a song called No More Fight or something…it can sample Hold On by Wilson Phillips…I don’t know, chile…
    http://giphy.com/gifs/90s-hold-on-wilson-phillips-7WUbQ8Zswvl3G
    lol

  13. JESUSHCHRIST September 11, 2016

I don’t feel sorry for her at all. It’s not like it was just one or two crazy outbursts… it spanned YEARS. We all let it slide so many times until she finally blew it.

And the sad bit is, I’m writing this as someone who was a fan for 4-5yrs and bought the album (one of only 2 I bought the year it came out). She will likely be forever haunted by thoughts of what could have been.

  14. No favs, just here for the music September 11, 2016

I need her to disappear from the face of this planet. Literally. I feel nothing from this woman other then annoyance and irritation.

  15. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) September 11, 2016

She’s gotta be bipolar…..and that’s not a read. She needs mental help asap.

  16. Meme September 11, 2016

It’s a not from me. This is coming from one of her early supporters. Purchased all her music up until ATM jam. After she dissed Pharrell it was a wrap for me. You can’t just do things like that when you are a nobody. Her head got to big. NEXT

  17. Mr baby bear September 11, 2016

I don’t feel bad for her. The ONLY reason she is sorta apologizing is ONLY because she “wants and NEEDS” to start performing again. Sadly it took her to lose it all before realizing how wrong she is. No sympathy for her at all….

  18. Scrappie September 11, 2016

Yeah um say no to drugs.

  19. MUSICHEAD September 11, 2016

She clearly has mental issues and should consult a doctor. I suspect bipolar disorder.

  20. Sherrele September 11, 2016

Do I feel sorry for her? No Now that her career has gone completely down she want people to feel sorry! No. She should have humble herself.

  21. #JACKIE September 11, 2016

First of all, she is monstrously overrated. All of her music sounds the same. Secondly, she’s burned EVERY bridge in the industry. No one wants to work with her bleached lip ass. Goodbye AFAILeia.

  22. Bae September 11, 2016

I was going to suggest that she should call Iyanla. But I don’t even know if she could fix this.

  23. SMH September 11, 2016

Why does this site give her so many passes? She CONSTANTLY screws up, she disrespects everyone she comes in contact with, and yall feel BAD for HER? You act as if she’s known for more than 1 song and this is literally the ONLY site that still reports on her. GIVE IT UP. We dont care, we never did and we never will about this chick. A teenager ended her career. You should be embarrassed.

  24. September 11, 2016

what i should kick her while she is down now, because all must all is doing so, well i wont i hope she turn her life around for the better.

  25. Yoncé The Great September 11, 2016

I want to empathize, but has she played this “woe is me” and “I will change” games a few times only to go back to her spazzes?

  26. Shaun hova September 11, 2016

The girl is talented unlike a lot of these mainstream artist today. You have someone like r. Kelly sleeping with underage girls and getting off. He’s still able to tour and sell records. Azealia has twitter arguments and it’s the end of the world. You have someone like 50 cent who manages to go on homophobic rants and the world doesn’t stop. Yeah, it’s always the “bitter black woman” who gets the short end of the stick. Say why you want but the girl is Hella talented.

    • FAF September 12, 2016

R kelly was 10 yrs into his career before there was even mention of that tape

That was before the peak of the InterneT

If u sell 20 mil records u can afford to lose 20% of your fans

Azealia had a mixtape acting like she was Kanye f****** west

  27. Nowqd Reddish trjoan ivy blobukz Need UK timely Ukuno eremixi September 11, 2016

Ain’t buying nothing of what she say too late next

  28. FC/JC September 12, 2016

She has a chance still, Its still wayy too soon for that though, She needs to really reevaluate herself and her position. Try again in 1-2 years

  29. King B September 12, 2016

hahahahahhahah lol. its too late. Next time think before you type/speak

  30. Coolness September 12, 2016

I was a big supporter and believer in her talent during the early days of her career. Here was this beautiful chocolate girl who could spit fire and was just bursting at the seams with creativity. Then the outbursts started and it became very hard to stand by her. She’s burned a great deal of bridges in this industry. From Pharrell to even Beyoncé, an artist she once claimed was one of her biggest inspirations. Don’t get me wrong, some of her opinions were laced with glimmers of truth but for the most part, she’s been highly offensive. Hopefully, she can turn things around. That kind of talent shouldn’t go to waste.

  31. Rebelhive September 12, 2016

I say she change her stage name or join like a band put out another EP then your with that, she is extremely talented but she got to chill…

  32. Indie September 12, 2016

Although 99.9% of things she’s been through she bought on herself, I’m not turning my back on a young Black Women who literally has to face this Music Industry alone! Azealia Banks is an example of what can happen to a black female with No team support, thrust into the limelight and not really knowing what to do.. I watched her go from being a Fashionista, then thinking it would be cool to be real about the Fashion Industry and how racist they are and with that she learned that overtime she talks and goes ANTI she gets publicity and that’s what keeps an artist out there, on top of that she didn’t want to be fake and made every opinion that went through her brain public, some plane nasty, others she become the voice of the forgotten youth. She literally went on a training ground of how to be an artist in front of our eyes, messing up and fixing in everyones face. The more she did it the more people pulled away. It takes a long time to figure out how to operate yourself properly especially when the press and media give you attention and keep you in the public eye whenever you do or say something bad! You have to look back at Amy Winehouse, she had her problems but do you not think she was aware that the most publicity she ever got was when she was a hot mess! Subconciouslhy you end up doing these things even more because you’ve spent your life wanting to be a superstar. Then there is the real struggle you deal with behind the scenes, industry racism, record labels, life. Azealia took pride in being an intellect that is by far more intelligent than half of the artist we see today, She flew the flag for strong young black girls that were not willing to be silenced. what we saw eventually was a young girl who really is still very young cave into the pressure, a girl who became angry because she has to fight 100 times harder than any of the other artist that weren’t dark skin in her position, she sells out Festivals every summer, but where is her NME cover? She ends up having to release one of the most anticipated albums of that year independently without support, she deals with the light skin/ dark skin b******* everyday and the once black activist now looks like she has jaundes, she cracks, she becomes bitter, she breaks down in our faces. Unlike a lot of the other artist in this business who have a team, family in the business or a crew with them at all times to protect them from this dangerous industry, Azealia Banks walks alone and although she f***** up meany times on her journey whilst learning she should be applauded for getting this far on her own two feet! I pray that she gets the support and is surrounded by a team who loves and cares for her, I pray she gets the help she needs if she is unwell and i want to see this beautiful talented young women win!

  34. Charlie September 12, 2016

Shut up, release some tracks and just keep quiet a bit. She’d be #1 if she would just let her music and talent speak for her.

  35. GEEZUS September 12, 2016

    Forgot about her tbh

  36. moi September 13, 2016
